Using a recipe from 1884 found in the archives of the original brewery in Ilkley, this distinctive Victorian Pale Ale was designed as the perfect accompaniment to food, being light and crisp. We have added our modern slant using Australian and American hops and the result is a beer for any occasion. Available in cask and bottle Hops: Calypso (USA), Stella (AUS) & Nelson Sauvin (NZ) Food Match: Yorkshire Lamb Burger, Teacakes

Big white head. Clear pale yellow body with light coarse carbonation. Fruity strawy resiny aroma with herbal notes. Aroma is very light, but good. Dry strawy resiny taste with herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry, salty grape and resin aftertaste with dusty strawy notes. Nice, drinkable, perhaps a little low on flavour. (0.5l bottle, from Meny Oslo City.)

Keg at Draft House. Pale hazy yellow, highly sparkling, big foamy white head endures, very uniform lacing. Aroma - malt, musty, lager, yeast. Body - light, active carbonation, not foamy. Taste is light with watermelon, passionfruit, slightly sour, lager finish. Very drinkable. A pint of this disappears very quickly.

0.5l bottle. This is a really crystal clear golden one, some few unfiltered particles in the glass and it only has a tiny bubbly white top. On the nose itís not all that interesting to be honest. Mild yeast fruity with melon and a good amount of honey. Other than that itís quite generic and a little dull imo. It has a nice round bitterness all the way in the taste. Feels soft oily in the mouth while the carbonation level is just about average. Grass bitter, quite typical for the genre really. Enjoyed accompanied to a roast beef sandwich. Did the job just fine! 21.12.2013
