Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Jan 2014 - Very Dark Reddish Brown (almost Black) in colour. Creamy light brown head. Very Malty; burnt malts, charcoal, very burnt malts, ash. Any other flavours? Say choc or fruit or hops? Who knows. Unfortunately the incinerated malts totally dominate the taste. Subtle it ain’t. Verdict - Looks great, but it is bitter burnt malty throughout. Not at all enjoyable. Although I bought a pint, I could only drink half; the first time that has happened in over 20 years.

Cask at Craft Clapham. Almost black with ruddy brown depths. Cracking malts in here, nice roasty toasty bitterness, hints of dark cocoa. Was there a touch of a coal fire, or is that the power of suggestion? Really nice wintry pint, a great relief from this neverending rain.
