3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.5l bottle. A clear, crystal clear actually deep dark golden, almost wood brown with a nice medium sized lasting and lacing bubbly off-white head. Smells of light thin caramel, it has some nice light fruity elements of apples and a nice malty sweetness with a hint of earthy hops. It’s absolutely not bad tasting this. Light and not to impressive on the mouthfeel, and the carbonation level is nicely prickling and average. Good earthy bitterness, a little bit of birch bitterness also with hints of darker malts, something a little burned perhaps and a lasting aftertaste. Not to exciting, but surprisingly tasty for such a lightweighter. 26.06.2013

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear, medium amber body with a quite dense, creamy, fully lasting, off-white head that laces the glass very well. Moderate aroma that is dominated by caramel, also some overripe fruits and deep down some tropical hints. The taste is initially light sweet and the finish has a quite sharp and herbal moderate bitterness. A bit faint flavours, again mainly caramel but with a distinct hoppy contribution in the back, citrus and faint traces of US hoppy tropical fruits. Light and somewhat watery mouthfeel with a moderate dry finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, from Scunthorpe Asda. Deep gold, fluffy and lasting off white head and gentle condition. Pleasant citrus and pine resin hoppiness mixed with low sweet caramel sweetness in the nose, quite full in the mouth with a gentle nutty caramel sweetness balanced by a persistent chalky bitterness and a restrained but insistent citrus hop note, gentle lingering citrus hops in the finish, with a touch of toffee sweetness at the end.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
very enjoyable and lively taste, if a little weak in the aftertaste. Caramel tones and refreshing bite - not too sweet.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask in the Rake. Brown colour. It is indeed a hoppy version of a Yorkshire bitter. Dry and malty, biscuity, then lengthy bitter finish, not especially New World given the hops used, but very pleasant. A highly drinkable well made modern bitter.
