India Pale Ales were made for transport overseas and are strong in alcohol and strongly hopped. Our golden coloured Lotus IPA is both of these and more with summit hops from New Zealand and cascade hops from America giving strong aromas and flavours of mango, grapefruit and all round citrus.

Bottle shared by Huhzubendah: pours a clear deep golden with a spotty lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with some herbal hoppy notes and a touch of citrus. Starts with pretty good fullness and light malty sweetness with a clean hoppy bitterness and light pine resin before a drier bittersweet finish. Smooth and drinkable.

At the hop in York. Not enough of a hoppy citrus taste for me, but nice enough and from a good brewery

Cask at Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Dark orange colour. Thick, bubbly, off white head. Sweet malty aroma, with thick, ripe orange marmalade thing going on. Juicy, bitterness on the palate. Decent.

Cask (Harbour View, Sunderland) - Amber with a small head. Apricot, toffee and a hint of grapefruit in the aroma. Apricot, raisins and grapefruit feature in the fruity and moderately bitter taste.

Intense citrusy aroma, but not to much, light bitterness balanced after taste, gets more bitter after more sips.Still highly refreshing and for English beer normal alco. volume.

Cask at Whitelocks, Leeds. Pours clear gold, foamy white head. Light citrus aromas, some pine. Taste has a good malt backbone, lots of hops, but it never over-loads. Lovely.

Cask at Craft Clerko, 27/01/14. Very lightly hazed golden amber with a moderate off white head. Nose is light caramel, citric notes, orange. Taste comprises grapefruit, bitter orange, light hop presnce. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying grass laden closure. Ok drinkable affair but more a glorified/ramped up golden blonde than an IPA, not enough hop presence. Style wise - an APA would be more appropriate.
