Hippoman (646) - Durham, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2016
Cask at The Bishop Langley, Durham, £3.10/pint. Slightly hazy, deep amber beer with a smooth, off-white head. Laces well. The nose is full of ginger, cinnamon and sweet syrup - I fear another Christmas spice bomb. Indeed there are plenty of herbal and spicy tones to the flavour and tastes sweet and sugary to the extent that I found it cloying after even one sip. There are some tart cranberry flavours too, which balance it out a bit and I found it to have more going for it than most spiced beers but it’s not really my thing.

Idiosynkrasie (6061) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - DEC 28, 2015
500ml bottle. Clear, copper-ish, dark amber colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Spicy aroma has a touch of clove and rabbit piss-drenched hay. Taste is minimally fruity and mildly spicy, hints of red berries, a touch of plum, very cautious hints of clove, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Undetermined, unfocused, boring.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol, 9/12/2015. Deep gold with a decent, off-white, head. Cinnamon, orange fruits and a hint of brown sugar, before a moderately bitter finish. An OK Christmas beer.
