Bottle. Yellow with a small head. Spicy with a trace of toast .Quite unusual with a range of flavours floating around. I usually think that fairly average strength Christmas beers are usually disappointing but this one was not.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield - Brass coloured body, thin white head. Nose is slightly ginger, a bit metallic. Taste is dry, uninspiring, but nothing offensive. Ilkley do much better than this.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was a bottle in a mixed case. After having some of the richer darker ales, this one seemed a little plain. It's a nice enough beer, but not special.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at the Sussex Arms, 28/12/13.
Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering.
Nose is spice forward, cinammon, root ginger, dark fruits, bready fruit loaf notes.
Taste comprises dark fruits, bready malt, nutmeg, 5 spice, cinabonn roll.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying conclusion laden with spices.
Decent Xmas affair, an effort has been made to load some different levels of spice flavour into this beer unlike other offerings who just tweak up a standard bitter add a dollop more sugar an a pinch of spice.
Well done Ilkley!

My midnight tipple. Happy Christmas to all in Ratebeerland. Pours orange gold with a slender white collar. Aroma of lager-like pale malts, green herb, floral and farmyard yeast, discreet spice- possibly nutmeg. Dry and yeasty with nut husk bitterness, soapy hop, nutmeg and rum. Possibly some strudel and pineapple in there. Clinging bitterness. Functional.
