Keg & Bottle.
Inspired by an ancient Mayan recipe, Ilkley Brewery has created an extraordinary Stout. It is velvety smooth, bittersweet, and has a subtle smoky fire in its belly. The Mayan is a Chipotle Chocolate Stout, dare you take it on?

Bottle from Latitude, Leeds. Black with next to no head. Has a strong chocolate aroma, with its spice subduing this greatly in its taste. It only provides a mild kick and fire in the palate though.

Bottle. Ruby body with a beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of chocolate milkshake, fig and green pepper. Flavour of dark chocolate with a chilli burn. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Too spicy for me.

Bottle shared with the bro. Cheers Jamestulloch! Pours a black with little head. Aromas of chocolate, black pepper and big chocolate. Flavour is sweet chocolate, coffee and then a black pepper spice creeps up and nips the tongue. Mild spicy linger. Surprisingly rather enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a small, staying, creamy beige head. Aroma has lots of chocolate, light milky, some coconut, mild roasted. Low carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has cocoa, firm chili burn, light coffee, soft roasted. Lingering, light warming finish with some chili. Nice.

Desde el principio destacan las notas a cacao y ahumadas, con un trago que tira hacia la milk stout, dulce y tostada, con un final especiado y ligeramente picante que se va acumulando poco a poco en la garganta.

Keg, half-pint shared with Finn at Alexandra Hotel. Tiny beige head. Jet black body. Inviting chocolate aroma, sweet. O’boy taste with a very strong chipotle smoked chili ending. Very slow sipper. Almost undrinkable (Derby 19.02.2016).

The smell is good. The appearance is not bad, but the foam does not have the desired persistance. The taste reminds us like spicy bacon. The palate is long, and spicy. In overall, we didn’t like this beer, because we don’t search for spicy flavours on our beer.

Fra fat på Alexandra Hotel i Derby 19 Feb 16. Delt med Rune. Svart. Skum langs glasset. Lett sjokoladearoma. Smaken er O’Boy - i 3 sekunder. Så slår chilien til og ødelegger alt.

On tap @ CBR Festival 2015, London - UK. Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: roasted malt and chocolate domination. Spicy notes. Taste: medium body with roasted malt, chocolate and coffee taste. Good attenuation with spicy finish. Quiet warm on throat ! Interesting spicy beer. Aftertaste: chocolate and spicy.

Backlog from the Brony Bottle Share at Travlr’s. Dark brown with bare offwhite head. Lots of cocoa and roast, with spices coming through. Great taste, but thin.
