The second in our ‘Derailed Series’, Mexican Honey is an Imperial Mexican Lager brewed with rare Mexican Orange Flower honey. Effervescent aromas of citrus and honeycomb leap out and boogie atop a crisp, pale yellow body with slight hints of cracker and toast.

Can at home thanks to Midwestern pils trader atom. Dee Golden pour fine two finger head. Nose is honey comb. Tastes of mostly honey, but with some earth, lemon, sugar cookies, florals, and grainy. Thick mouthfeel for style. Fine brew.

Soft straw gold with two fingers of soft pillowy white head. The nose shows soft fresh baked bread with a subtle honey note and floral quality. The flavor had a sharpness to it and a rich honey note. Medium full bodied with an unpleasant bite.

Can consumed while throwing the first round of disc golf of the year. Tall boy. Aroma is sweet and floral. Golden in color. Frothy white head. Taste has a honey/nectar feel to it. No hints of citrus. Maybe a malty undertone. Syrupy mouthfeel. Kind of heavy. Slight alcohol burn at the end. Overall I’m enjoying it more than expected. Could be the beautiful day more than the quality.

16 oz. can. Pours a bright golden with a medium white head. Aroma of honey, citrus, cracked and bread notes. Flavor is mildly sweet with fruity and bready undertones. Very mild bitterness. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Overall, nice.

Draft at gold nugget. Faint aroma. Clear gold body with no carbonation. Looks and smells like a beer far less worthy than it is. Tons of flavor. Honey sweet. Some black pepper. Really works well.

draft on tap at the brewery (Minneapolis, MN). Pours a gentle hazed deep amber gold glow, frothy whitish head is a spotty but thicker ringer with decent retention, nice lacing. Aromas are a bit sweet, gentle honey and florals. A kiss of earth, bread and gentle carmelized honey. Mellow earth, subtle heather, florals, earth. Some graininess, earth, subtle lemon and earth, gentle floral. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, a touch of residual honey, earth, and gentle bready and grainy malts. Subtle warmth, smooth honey and florals. A bit of thickness but quickly overcome with cool honey, dabs of lemon and earthy florals. Backend is a bit dry, bitter, subtle warmth. A bit of thickness back here covers up the ABV better with gentle sweetness, subtle fleshy apple and fruit. A bit dry and bitter, earth and floral jabs as we round the bend. Some earth, biscuit and dough. A bit strong and big and not necessarily in my wheelhouse but this works well enough. Looks nice, subtle aromas and flavors but goes down easily for a bigger beer.

Pour on tap, clear golden yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big honey, vanilla, biscuit and bread into some corn, grass, touch of orange peel into a bit of earth. Taste was a mix of earth, yeast, honey into some vanilla, white fruit, touch of grainy notes, some orange as well, finishing sweet.

Can. Sweet malt nose, with citrus and light fumes. Deep bright medium straw color. Sugar and honey, condensed peaches, more honey sweetness in mid and final. Medium body. Pleasant. Gets a little cloying in mid palate, but then settles out and back to some balance.
