COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The second in our ‘Derailed Series’, Mexican Honey is an Imperial Mexican Lager brewed with rare Mexican Orange Flower honey. Effervescent aromas of citrus and honeycomb leap out and boogie atop a crisp, pale yellow body with slight hints of cracker and toast.

Pours a light, hazy, golden yellow, with massive head. Aroma is veryfloral and grassy. Flavor has a touch of sweetness, along with the grassiness, some fruit/citrus. Not especially remarkable.

Bottle pours a hazy straw yellow with nice head and lacing. Aromas of honey, bread, dough, and floral. Flavor has very mild bitter hints, mostly sweet. Not bad.

Waxed 750mL. Hazy yellow with a bubbly white head. Lager yeast, dried grass, soft sweet honey, and bread dough. Has a sweet honey start with a lingering yeasty bread flavor. Body is medium with a filmy feel.

Clean, blonde, fizzy. Menthol, chlorine and chamomile notes, airy and strange. Fresh leaves, lavender, crystalline sugar, cooling herbs. Oxygen exposure reveals the canned corn sweetness with a little time.

Basic doughy lager taste, and quite clean with very little happening. Low fusel flavors and low trash, weed compost flavors; how these are avoided when there is so little body-building flavor to find amidst such high alcohol is confusing. Light corn like sweetness throughout, herbal qualities less present; honey finds its place in the distant finish with a floral sweetness.

Palate somehow crisp; very gentle slickness midway through, finishing only mildly dirty. The concept here is no less misguided than any other imperialization of a low gravity style, but this crisply rendered version is more acceptable than most; a flavorful beer it is not, a hot mess it is not.

[Bottle, thanks Guerde!] Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is underlying mild citrus and vague sweetness. Graham cracker, big blast of honey--the sweet aroma reminds me of some sort of frosted dessert I’ve had before. Possibly carrot cake. Taste is very sweet, but still balanced with some good cracker towards the back end. Gets a touch hot after warming. A little thin with a decent length finish. Overall, I really doubted that I would like this beer given that it is an imperial pils. However, the beer really worked for me. Thanks again, Andy!

Fantastic, great honey! This is an upcoming brewery. With this and hot box, which are flagships. Every beer I have had from them is solid, great showing at Rochester beer fest. The rating here is absurd, this is a homerun beer. If you get the chance, dig in. Cheers!
