3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours basically black with a good head & good lacing on the glass.
The aroma is rich and roasty with a nice chocolaty character, and loads of mocha and coffee... such a nice malt character that the fruity hops sort of play second fiddle.
The flavor has a nice roastiness, a pleasant but low level of bitterness. & some dark chocolate. The beer keeps it plenty on the dry side and the hop character is nice, fruit forward... and again sort of pales in comparison to the nice roasty/stouty sorts of things going on here.
Not a great example of black IPA, but a really cool hoppy stout for real.

Poured from the can at Icehouse. Beautiful dark pour with a thick had. Aroma is roasted chocolate and coffee... Almost too roasted, tastes a bit burnt. Long bitter aftertaste. Good overall but could have used a bit more sweetness to balance the bitter roasted taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can shared at CBC Islington during the Ryan Tasting - many thanks to Ryan the Can Man. Pours brown with a big, frothy beige head. Good baking cocoa in here, rich pine, some toasty bread. A solid black IPA on the whole. Very drinkable, pretty dynamic.

12oz can, Steasy66 tasting at CBC Islington. Thanks Ryan. The aroma is moderate-heavy roast, lighter coffee, chocolate, and faint pine. It pours a dark brown colour with a small beige head. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, burnt notes, roast, and pine. It’s medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, another good one from Ryan.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours black with a vague tint of orange and a creamy, beige head leaving a neat lacework. Roasty nose with a hint of herbal hops. Rich, sweet chocolatey body with an ashy edge and a dry bitterness - deriving from malts rather hops. More so a hoppy Stout in my book - but a pleasant beer alright. 151013

Bottle cheers to Ryan. Looks spectacular in the glass. This one has a very appealing hop profile - pine, grapefruit, citric juice, orange & lemon rind. A fair bit of roast in the taste with light milk chocolate behind it all. Bitterness is a little too astringent. Solid stuff

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had it out of a can, poured a dark brown hue with a mild malt coffee aroma. The taste is a perfect marriage between a hoppy IPA and some coffee mall!

12 ounce can (from brewery)
Not having tried anything from Indeed I was curious after coming away with a six pack at the Great Taste of the Midwest. A solid black IPA has few flaws and makes me want to actively seek out a few more offerings the next time I find myself in Minnesota.
Aroma / Appearance - A fluid black base pours with a rich chocolately texture. Soft edges and minimal head give it nice contrast. Chocolate, earthy hops, and warmth permeate the air like a malty porter.
Flavor / Palate - Burnt caramel, chocolate, and muddy hops sweep across the tongue. Transitioning to a smooth finish the texture is refreshing without being harsh. I wish I could have tried a few at the festival now.
