3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught at the Indeed Brewing Company’s taproom in Minneapolis, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown (near black) colored brew with an average sized beige head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of mostly citrus hops, a hint of grapefruit, toasted dark malt, a hint of coffee and some light licorice. Taste is medium bodied, character closer to a dry stout with toasted dark malt, some dry leafy mild hops, a touch of sage and a touch of Bakers chocolate. Finish is semi-dry, more of the roasted dark malt in the finish, short-lived, then a mild bitterness.

Tap at the brewery. Pint glass. Black with tan head that sticks around for drinking enjoyment. Roasted malt and some citrus hops on the nose. Some smoke. Taste is pretty standard black IPA but it’s above average. Lots of hop with a roasted malt backbone. Little chocolate and coffee. Really enjoyable hop-centric effort that is a good flagship for the brewery. I’d purchase with my one last silver dollar.
