16 oz. pour, on tap at Busterís on 28th. Consumed on 11-4-12. Pours a mostly clear copper with a slight haze and a small amount of beige head. Aroma and flavor are sweet and feature marshmallow, sweet potato, and pumpkin elements. Medium body. Lively and frothy in the palate. The beer is essentially an amber ale with a touch of organic sweetness.

Tapped at the brewery. Transparent reddish orange with thin, almost non-existent white head. Faint vegetable smell. Taste is a bit underwhelming, but sweet and yam-y (actually tastes like sweet potato). Feel is pretty thin, but smooth. Overall, certainly not offensive, but not great either. Could have a little more flavor. All that being said, still better than I expected, and ver drinkable. Would be a good session beer if you like this kind of thing.

On tap. Pours a clear amber orange with a tan head that dissipates completely. Aroma has lots of pumpkin spice with underlying notes of vanilla, sweet grains and sweet potato. Flavor starts with sweet potato and is quickly joined by spices and vanilla.

Pours a chestnut color with no head. Watery with a mild nutty aroma. Wish it was creamier and a little more complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Blue Door in St. Paul. Pint glass. Amber. 1/4 finger head. Aroma is minimal but has hints of spice...primarily cloves. Roasted sugary malts. Some mild pumpkin, yammy elements. Appropriate for the season. Itís a rather quickly dissipating taste and not really an enjoyable finish. I want this to be more assertive. Much better options for pumpkin beers.

Can - Toasted sweet malts, christmas spices and gourd notes. Clear amber with almost no head. Gourd notes, pepper, christmas spice in the finish. Not bad, but nothing particularly exciting.

Sweet potato beer with an intriguing nose and color, but a sweeter and heavier body that doesn't hit my palate.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber with a thick white head. Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet malt. Flavor of cinnamon, brown sugar, pumpkin, fall spices, sweet malt. Perhaps more of a pumpkin ale than a sweet potato ale...but thatís just splitting hairs. Pretty decent fall seasonal, emphasis on the cinnamon/brown sugar/sweet yam. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

Pours amber with a medium, off-white head. Aroma is malt and pumpkin spice. Flavor is nutmeg and close with hints of banana and vegetable with some malt. Light body with medium carbonation. Itís ok but Iím not feeling this one so much.

Tap at Minnesota State Fair, Land of 10,000 Beers section. Light floral aroma, a bit earthy, with some spiciness, nutmeg, cinnamon. Nice copper/amber color. Spice right away, sweet maltiness, some grain, light bitterness, earthy finish. Thin-medium body. The sweet potato adds a special sort of feel to the bod. Tastes a bit more Belgian spice/herb/....

c/o mnmike. Thanks again! Aroma - it could be that the aromas are very similar between sweet potato and pumpkin, or it could be the spices used in pumpkin beers and this beer are the same, but Iím picking up the same nose as I would in pumpkin beers Iíve sampled. Appearance - body color is an rusty/orange color; the liquid is hazy, with good nucleation; the head is beige and about 1 1/2" high and quickly rings out Taste - is very distinct, the beer has a small spice profile associated with pumpkin beers. Itís a subtly sweet and somewhat elusive, itís malts donít hang around long. Itís pumpkin-like, which I assume is sweet potato. Palate - body is near medium; the texture is between medium and thick; carbonation is nearly lively; the finish has a unique effervescent and holiday like spice quality about it.
