On draught at the Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a clear copper amber colored brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of mild earthy herbs, light nutmeg, caramel malt and a hint of praline. Taste is medium bodied, soft carbonation with distinct sweet potato, Munich malts and some dry nutmeg. Finish is semi-dry, quite smooth with an earthy sweet potato and caramel malt aftertaste followed by a crisp, clean cut finish. Though most may think this is a pumpkin ale with typical spices, the sweet potato character is more distinct compared to pumpkin ales.

From notes, tried at Indeed last fall. Hazy with a copper color. Light sweet malt and some sweet potato, which is light but perceivable.

Tap at Blue Nile, its a pumpkin colored beer, with pumpkin like qualities but the earthiness of pumpkin is replaced with a candied yams sweetness, but its not balanced or defined its just a muddled mess, a straight 3 beer if i’ve ever had one. indeeds least inspired beer in their brief history.

Bottle. Dark orange in color with a small white head. It has a nice golden color when held up to the light. There seems to be just a touch of haze in the beer as well. Really nice aroma that mixes the yam character, with a little bit of fruitiness, and just a hint of nutmeg. Everything is well integrated in the aroma, with nothing dominating more than any other characteristic. Taste is sweet potato with a hint of nutmeg. Very subtle. Pretty light to medium bodied, and fairly refreshing when compared to others of the style. This is an example of a spice beer that I enjoy which has more subtle spicing. Usually I like aggressively spiced pumpkin beers (Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale), but this does a great job being subtle and enjoyable.

16 oz. pour, on tap at Buster’s on 28th. Consumed on 11-4-12. Pours a mostly clear copper with a slight haze and a small amount of beige head. Aroma and flavor are sweet and feature marshmallow, sweet potato, and pumpkin elements. Medium body. Lively and frothy in the palate. The beer is essentially an amber ale with a touch of organic sweetness.

Has some nice sweet caramel, vanilla, nutmeg/cinnamon scents. Taste is similar but a bit on the lighter side of the spice which is nice, could drink more than one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle from mattyb83, thanks Matt! Pours a clear, glowing, copper-gold colored body with a finger-width, dense, creamy and frothy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pumpkin pie spices with some caramel and biscuity malts, earthy sweet potatoes, and some nuts. Flavor is similar. Some cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice up front before a good amount of earthy sweet potatoes come in. A biscuity, lightly sweetened caramel malt backing provides a smooth balance before this finishes dry and clean with a light earthy bitterness, spices, and light sweetness. Sweet potato and earth sticks out in a lengthy aftertaste that follows a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an interesting beer that worked pretty well. Definitely not my favorite from Indeed, but I liked the sweet potato addition adding an earthiness that went nicely with the spices and lightly sweetened malts. Not bad.

Nitro tap at the brewpub. Golden pour with a nice nitro head. Sweet potato and holiday spices on aroma and taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Very good.

It was a starchy sweet and overall forgettable brew. Weird creamy mouthfeel, not my thing. Pretty looking, though. Maybe I’m not fancy enough to sense the nuance ;)

Really good beer. Poured at Indeed Brewings tap room. Poured with nitrogen created a really cool frothy head. Fun to drink and tastes great. Loved the sweet potato flavor and smell.
