Pint on tap. Mahogany color, opaque, with heavy lacing. Oat-y aroma toasty, pleasant. Toasty taste, not hoppy at all, but not very sweet either, rather nutty, slight toffee as well. Itís alright.

Not a bad brew at tall. Caramel, malty notes. A mellow brew. Strange thing thick like a stout. But itís an ale. But then again as they say Keep Austin Weird!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma is dominated by the dark malts, with notes of cocoa powder, dry toffee, grain, and hazelnut. Smooth, inoffensive, and comforting. The taste is mildly sweet with residual hop bitterness and a wee hint of roasted malt lingering in the aftertaste. Velvety mouthfeel with minimal carbonation and a clean, refreshing finish. A nice early-afternoon treat, like a good brown ale should be; no more and no less.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a moderate-large tan head that lasted through the first two sips and left light lace. Pleasant aroma of crystal malt with a few notes of caramel. The flavor is malt with some nuts and very mild chocolate. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. A bit timid, but no problems.
