Bottle, from Kegs & Barrels, McKinney, TX. Pours a nice translucent brown with beige head with minimal retention. Aroma of slight roast & chocolate. Flavor was pleasant, nice roasty chocolate with dark fruit notes. Palate was light-medium feel with medium-high carbonation. Not bad......

12oz bottle. thanks lb4lb. pours dark brown with tan head. nose has a slight roast, toasted biscuit, chocolate, and dark fruits. flavor is a bit grainy, toasted biscuit, dark fruits, some roast, and nuts. a tad rough around the edges and a fizzy carbonation. otherwise a decent brown.

Reddish in color almost brown. Ok head. Maltiness, carmel, and some toastines in the aroma. Medium body. Smooth and light. Not as much in the taste slightly nutty.

Bottle shared by jsquire at jsquires. Very small tan head that mostly diminished, spotty amounts of lacing, opaque, no carbonation observed, and a brown hue. Nose was malty, caramel, roasty, and chocolate. Ditto for the flavor with some bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel and light in body. Quaffable but nothing super special about this beer. Just okay for me.

Pours a deep scarlet red to black, thin filmy head. Sweet molasses and brown sugar aroma, nice smoke notes. Smells like BBQ. Sweet liquorice upfront followed by smoked malts with a milk chocolate finish. Palate is thin but some what smooth. If it were thicker Id enjoy this beer much much more.

Draught. Smoky sweet nose, coffee and nutty malts. Ruby-brown with nearly no head. A bit bland but whats there is good, mellow sweet coffee with some light bitterness. Thin, but not to too much of a fault.

Mar. 2007 - Dark, dark brown, little head or lacing. Really roasty aroma. Robust roast and nutty flavor with a strong smokiness. The smokiness really made it interesting. Not bad.

This bottled brew from JSquire at a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated brown colored body and a poor lacing. The smooth stout like mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The yummy flavor contained notes of dark malt brown malt and mild caramel. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

nutty alcohol aroma, dark brown color. Very nutty sweet malt, almost burnt taste. Not my favorite.

I thought this beer was one of the better TX craft beers Ive had. It was a really nice brown ale with lots of caramel and roasty ("burned pizza crust") flavor. This beer poured a rather flat-looking reddish-brown into a pint glass. The head materialized rather late after Id poured the beer. Aroma was pretty nice; a lot of brown sugar caramel-ness. Flavor was also good - a nice blend of caramel and burnt roastiness. I thought this beer had a lot more flavor than many other brown ales Ive had. Mouthfeel was a bit boring and thin, but not bad. Id have this again. Definitely recommended.
