Bottle courtesy of lb4lb. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of dough, some sweet malt. Taste is of chocolate and sugar with some dryness. On the boring side of the brown ale spectrum.

Sample at the Texas Beer & Brats tasting 10/11/2009. The beer is a dark brown color with a thin light beige head that recedes to a film eventually. Roasty malt aroma with notes of nuts and hops. Medium, smooth body with flavors of roasted malt and nuts, hops and a bit of chocolate. The finish is roasty with a lingering malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle (12oz). Courtesy of my secret santa. Almost opaque deep ruby-brown with an average fizzy-foamy diminishing off-white head. Nice oily sweet roast malt aroma, nutty, cola-ish, some chocolate and peat, decent pungent hops. Taste is quite roasty, coffee/chocolate and earthiiness, decent hops but a little too much cola sweetness in the finish. Average body, a little over-carbonated, sweet finish - not bad.

Bottle: Light brown color, light head. Nose of light earthy hops and a caramelly maple note. The flavor is chewy with nutty cocoa note, mild chocolate and a sweet nuggat overtone. Decent brown ale, in the middle, decent body, robust tail. Respectable.
