3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2013 Draft pour at Whip In. Pours darkest brown nearly black with a thin khaki head that dissipates. Thin foamy lacing clings to the upper glass. Too cold for a smell test. Taste is lightly roasted malts, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Thick mouthfeel that ends sort of sudsy. Pretty good stout from Independence.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Extra in a trade from Errl. Thanks man! Terrific oatmeal stout. Rich dark roast coffee and malt aromas. Thick with the slightest translucense at the edges against a light. Fast fading head with lasting lacing. Terrific oatmeal stout palate with full body. Great characteristic flavors for the style. Alcohol totally hidden. One of the best oatmeal stouts I’ve had in a while. Not stellar, just gets it ALL right.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig. The pour’s deep brown with a small white head. The nose is molasses, and chocolate. Some cinnamon and maple syrup sweetness. A bit woody, hints of roasted coffee. The taste is full of oatmeal, a bit grainy. Some nice soft chocolate and more woody notes. Medium body. Not flashy, but decent.
