Roasted coffee notes pleasantly permeated my nostrils, accompanied by a lingering alcohol presence. Black with amber halo when held up to the light. Cream-colored head dissipates rapidly after the pour. Medium sweet taste that is accompanied by bitter notes. Pleasant medium body with an oily texture. 0% carbonation. Bitter sweet, well balanced finish. Not my favorite oatmeal stout, but pleasant nonetheless.

This was a pretty decent oatmeal stout, but it lacks the smooth, slick character of the oatmeal that I wanted.

12oz bottle, pretty standard, unfortunately I could not find the oatmeal profile here, then again its not often that I can detect the oats, its smooth and easy drinking for 9%

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours pitch black color with a nice 2 finger dense dark tan head. Smells of chocolate, caramel, molasses, light coffee, roasted malts. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, molasses, coffee. Slight bitterness from the roasted malts I suspect and not from the hops. Medium carbonation with a creamy, slick, really nice mouth feel. 9.2% ABV is there but well hidden. There is some warming on the finish. Overall this is an very nice oatmeal stout.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to a local BIF. Pours a dark cola brown with no head, just a slight foam. Roasty aroma, some coffee and some fruity aroma of grapes. The taste is typical of the style and the mouthfeel is thick. On the verge of dry but still sweet. Light carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted in a standard pint glass from draft at Alamo Drafthouse. Comes through with decent caramel notes (but I have a cold and this beer was probably a bit cool for the style.
Flavors come through robust with caramel malts and chocolate in abundance. Oatmeal comes through, but a bit sweet which to my surprise is a positive here.
Roasted barley and again the oats leave a pleasant but not quite full character lingering on the palate

Decent beer. Pours a jet black with no head. Not a lot of aroma. A little toasty. The taste is where its at. A lot of oatmeal and very malty. The back end is where you get all of the taste.

4.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours thick and dark, good head and good lacing. Excellent Stout, sweet strong roast. Some chocolate, some slighter coffee, tastes concentrated. Most excellent proud bold flavor. A great Imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with a thin head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is dark roasted grain, molasses, hint of anise. Flavor is a beautifully balanced blend of burnt bitterness and malty sweetness. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Toffee aftertaste. Very nice!

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark as night poor with a deep red and brown head that lingers. Some protein in the head gives it lasting retention. Smells if rich chocolate and roasted nut. Taste is much the same as the smell but the real jewel is the mouthfeel that accompanies the taste. Creamy but not like a milk stout, more something of itís own kind. Whatever it is, it makes you want to drink more and more. Even with itís strong flavors it is drinkable and desireable. One of those beers that I canít get enough of.

Good Texas brew! Dark. Laces glass with foam. Smooth head. Chocolate notes. Deep. A bit simplistic but nonetheless tasty. Not as deep as an Imperial Stout but very drinkable. Would have liked to have seen it taken further though.
