On tap at BD Riley’s in Austin, TX. I had this immediately after a nasty malt bomb porter, so it might have tasted better than it would have otherwise because of the contrast effect. Pours clear bright amber, tastes full of fruity hops, light and crisp, a great session pale ale.

Pours golden with an enormous, fluffy off-white head. Smells strong of floral and spicy hops with a mild sweet aroma. Taste is sweet at first, like caramel, and the some solid bitterness and back to sweetness. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Independence Brewing Independence Pale Ale finishes with a touch of sweet and a touch of bitter.

Pint at B. D. rileys in Austin. This is very much a classic American pale ale. It is a bit coppery in hue with pine and floral hop notes. Some balancing malt. This beer breaks no new ground but was a tasty start to the NYE festivities.

Independence Pale Ale has a very thin, egg shell head, and a clear, golden orange appearance, with lots of streaming bubbles and thick lacing. The aroma gives a whiff of Orange Julius, and then mostly clean water. Taste is quite strong on bitter hops (the predominate flavor aspect), and there are underlying barley malt and pine notes. The mouthfeel is medium and fluffy, and Independence Pale Ale finishes mostly dry, crisp, sharp, and good. Drinkability is moderate to high. Even though it’s rather one dimensional (hops), overall, this is a very good ale. RJT

Not as bitter/hoppy as many pale ales -- not necessarily a bad thing but if that’s your thing look elsewhere. Grapefruit, pine and biscuit notes make for a right tasty brew.

12 oz. bottle served in shaker- about time I rated this since I’ve had it maybe a dozen or so other times (draught, bottle, at the brewery itself...) ... poured a transparent lightened copper, minimal carbonation, white ring around the glass for a head. Inviting aroma of caramel, malt, and a small amount of hops. Hits the mouth with light medium body, malt is nicely paired with hops at the beginning with modest sprinklings of sweetness, middle holds up just fine, finish is slightly lingering and imparts a fine note of acidity. A good little sipper for a holiday weekend- thank you to all you veterans.

Nice and dry - very hoppy aroma, nice bitter taste with a good finish. Surprised that it didn’t have a better rating.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow golden with a small frothy off white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a sweet hops and grapefruit. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter hop and citrus with a nice lingering bitter finish. A good America pale ale from Independence.
