Stash IPA is defined by the hops. 7 additions of 4 different varietals, Columbus, Galaxy, Nugget and Cascade create a hop explosion that finishes clean. A dank, resinous and enlightening hop trip. It’s got mad hops.
Head Brewer Michael Waters: "The Stash is a reincarnated beast. It makes sense to go to the source, and IPA for me is defined by the West Coast. Three pounds of hops per barrel, 100 IBU, and a large dose of Columbus hops so the aroma matches the name."

12oz bottle: Appearance is a cloudy light brown with slow fading off white head. Aroma is of piney hops. Taste is an impressively balanced hop and malt combo. Initially filled with some pine like hops, then balanced with a fair amount of barley.

Pours orange with a small white fizzy head. Smells hoppy, hints of citrus and lots flowers. Taste is bitter with some sweet notes underneath. Medium-bodied with slick texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Independence Brewing Stash IPA finishes with a resiny feel and very mild bitterness.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2012 Location: Draft at Ginger Man-Austin, 2/17/12

Aroma: The nose is mostly citrus hops, with some malts and honey notes as well
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with a. White head and medium heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium plus bitter, with a decent malt backbone for some balance
Palate: Medium bodied, a creamy mouthfeel, the carbonation is average, and it finishes fairly dry
Overall Impression: I thought that this was a pretty solid IPA. It is fairly on target for what I’m looking for from this style, and it drank pretty nicely. They did a good job with this one.

Not much in way of aroma pale malt, a little honey, not much hop. Golden amber pour thin head. Pale malt grain and light hop. Light honey. Detergent possibly. Not overly flavorful. Not bad.

The new version of this beer is way improved. Better balance and hop flavor. Good malt backbone. Good citrusy hop character.

Pint at the Old School restaurant in Austin, Tx. Hazy and light coppery. A smallish off white head leaves a layer of lacing. A citrusy nose has oranges and grain. The neginning of each sip starts with bitterness that would try to take over but it quickly calms. Citrus flavor is big with some grapefruit. Pine flavors balance nicely with the citrus and caramel is the third leg. I also taste grain. Served too cold but the flavor is more than ample enough to power through. Is this a double? Flavor and ABV both indicate that it is. Good stuff.
