Philly Craft Beer Festival. Small plastic sample cup. Woody brown with a dark tan head. Coffee caramel nose, some hay. Nutty bittersweet chocolate with a citrus finish.

Not usually my favorite brewery, but this is beautiful black with a frothy chocolate head, and falling brown sediment. Taste is clearly chocolate and coffee.

On tap at the Independence Brew Pub. Poured a dark black color with red and brown edges with a smaller sized tan head. Aroma reminded me of rootbeer candy, smokey wood, anise and chocolate. Tastes of some dark fruits (raisins and plums), roast chocolate and anise.

Draft at Split thy Skull X. Another amazing Imperial Stout: silky texture, subltle (for a stout) roasted, coffee and chocolate flavors. Chewy and clean.

Poured an opaque black color with a tan head that left lacing on the glass. Aroma of light roast, chocolate, and anise. Taste of roasted coffee, smoke, chocolate, lightly vinous, with some light vinous character and no alcohol. Dry finish.
