Part of a sampler. Wasn't a cask. Just regular draft. Tasted what it should be. Nothing special. Had worse.

semi-dark, obviously the emphasis here is on smoothness rather than flavour. quite sweet, tastes like rolled oats with quik

I had this as a regular draft. Syrupy, flat appearance, very dark brown, clear, though lighter at the edges. Big chocolate front, with a medicinal grape quality and some lingering fruitiness amid a molasses, roasted quality. Not as thin as many porters, though I sensed some odd flavors amid the richness.

Black / dark brown hue. Slightly roasted, some chocolate floavours. Sweet finish. Could have used more character, but not a bad beer.

Black with a thin head. Watery thin to the feel. First sweet, then coffee in the flavors. Not really all that impressive.

This was an excellent porter. It has the correct body for this style of beer. It's a heavy beer, though.

jcalbi (378) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 13, 2002
This particular batch was tapped from an oak cask that previously held Victory Hopdevil and a 1998 JW Lees Harvest Ale. Black as night but a rather thin body, almost no hopfeel and no real flavor. Wish I could have tasted some of the remenants of the previous tennants of this cask. Uninspiring.

The beer wasn’t served quite at cellar temperature, it seemed a little colder than that, black in color, excellent head retention that laced around the glass, head was a light tan in color, very rich flavors, a hint of chocolate & coffee, a bit of a burnt aftertaste, very good porter
