Bottle from Meny Oslo City enjoyed at home
Golden hazy, big white head. Smells of grass, fruityness and light malts. Taste is light to moderate sweet, quite fruity, nice malt tones, totally a refreshing and drinkable beer. Nice mouthfeel, moderate bitter. A very nice beer from Inderøy, light, fruity, refreshing. I like it alot
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 abemorsten (1842) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - SEP 19, 2012
0,5 l bottle from Vaaland, Bryne. Slow gushing after opening. Pours a sparkling misty golden with a fingerthick white fluffy head that lingers as a thick film. Pears and other fesh fruit along with wooden tones fill the nose. Sharp mouthfeel and prickling tongue in a medium body. Light malts, sweet and light fruity and spicy with a paperish bitter flavor that endures.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bathory (360) - Bryne, NORWAY - JUL 12, 2012
Pours a hazy golden colour, with a nice head thay stayes very long Fresh aroma of yeast, bread and citrus. Taste is very yeast-dominated, with citrus. Texture is quite soapy, with a very soft carbonation. Very good beer indeed.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Palme (2234) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 15, 2011
0.5l bottle from Fenaknoken, Oslo. My first Kölch! Pours a heavy cloudy really pale yellow-gray body with some big dark sediments and a nice big and lasting light creamy white head. Aroma is pale malt, some citrus, a light hint of hay and some light grapefruit and hopy notes as well. Lively carbonation, light oily mouthfeeling and medium to light-bodied. Tastes light malty, some more hay and some light citrus notes. It can actually remind me a bit of mineral water flavored with malts and a drop of lemon. Mild malty aftertaste and it’s leaving the mouth kinda dryish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tfredvik (630) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 30, 2011
My first kölsch! Light yellow hazy body with a huge, white, dense, fully lasting, frothy head that leaves incredible amounts of lacing. The fruity and spicy aroma is a bit faint but still very nice, there are citric notes, yeast and some sweet honey. The taste is light sweet, light acidic and light bitter, with a long-lasting very dry bitter finish. Flavours are spices, yeast and citrus. Rather light body, but the soft to medium carbonation is perfect and I love the dryness, so I award it a high Palate score. I understand from the other ratings of this beer that it might not be typical for the style, but I really enjoyed this one!
[50 cl bottle, best before March 2012, from Fenaknoken, Oslo]
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 ClubGonzo (2692) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 19, 2011
Bottle from Vaaland Spesialbutikken. Pours a pale orange body with a huge white, cloudy head. Aroma is grassy, yeasty hop notes with floral hints. Not too impressive in its constellation. Taste is similarly a kinda grass-hopped farmhouse ale, only with a watery palate and relieved of most things good or exciting. But the worst is: Kölsch? KÖLSCH?? WTF?? This is an insult to anyone familiar with the style’s intelligence, as well as the brewers of German lager beer: this has NOTHING to do with a German kölsch, and it annoys me that Inderøy seemingly picked the term out of a beer book and presents this beer as a style they must know is pretty obscure to most Norwegians, in order to come across as knowledgeable about beer. I know I’m at a risk of sounding like a snob here, but this is simply ridiculous. Lots of minus points for this pretentious move by Inderøy. Shame on you. :-(
