After slugging back far too many Malbec’s and Cab Sauv’s at this year’s Toast to the Coast it was time to relax at Indi - and time to give this one another belt! It produced up a russet chestnut with a dense, compact white head that holds on and laces well. Sweet toffee and biscuity malts peak out from under layers of fresh hops showcasing damp herbs, bitter grapefruit, tangerine and pine needles. Good body, firm and rounded with moderate to light carbonation. Biscuity, nutty malt fills it out and gives it a controlled sweetness up front. All hops passed the mid-palate; piney and peakingly bitter with a herbal, grassy, grapefruit and wine-like fruity finish. Quite dry in the swallow but there is definitely enough fruit to quench the palate. This has come a long way from last I tried it. Very easy to drink, and wonderfully showcasing of those hops. Good stuff!!!

Produced up a bright, ruddy copper and donned by a lasting, creamy, off-white head. Sweet aroma of fresh baked Anzac biscuits, sticky marmalade and pine resin. Super sweet, tangy and sugary on the palate, and residually so too. Served up extra chilled I can’t imagine this getting better as it warms. Taste of Golden syrup and caramelised orange dominates with a praline, nutty edge that leaches the desperate hops in back. Fuzzy and rough, herbal and floral tail with a moderate bitter edge and husky, repeating phenols showing. Long sweet malt finish again takes over from the hops. Too off-balance to be enjoyed anything but chilled. I am a sucker so another taster will come; hopefully of a second batch come summer! 6-3-5-3-10
