COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style Summer Ale is a marmalade orange colour with medium bitterness and medium to low residual malt sweetness. Malt flavour is biscuit like with English and Kiwi hop flavour and aroma being evident and well balanced with malt character. Mild carbonation and moderate levels of fruity esters also characterize this beer. The overall impression is refreshing and thirst quenching and best enjoyed cold.

Tried on tap at Indian Ocean. Slightly hazy straw/orange coloured body with minimal head. Touch of grains on the aroma and in the taste, some lemon notes on the finish, also a floury nose. Light to medium body.

Draught at the brewery.
Initial thoughts is it looks like a pint glass filled with sand. I’m just glad a messy, foamy white pad was set atop but that just gave me the impression of residual froth after the waves had crashed upon a beach, hmmm! Produced up a muddy, murky and dull yellow gold with a fine bead. Initial burst of wet cardboard and sweaty socks wanes a little to reveal some barnyard grit and hay, warm toasted bread and lemon zest. Oddly tastes more of wheat than barley. Quite lot of fizz to delve through and watery when chilled I had to let this sit for a moment, read a book to pass the time. Sweet front with a rough piney, woodiness, sour, lemony edge and a big wad of herbal, grassy hops that give a mildly sharp edge and a nice heavy bitterness to it. Esters of mango and passionfruit late into drinking linger in the mouth, some phenolics too of cloves (have I the right beer? English Summer Ale?). Body ends as medium-light, definitely not to be served chilled as it’s nothing but fizzy sour water cold. Second pint was much better than the first as the palate had adjusted well by then. Summery, just a little lost as to what style of beer it is!?
