2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Aubrey (3193) - Bellingham, USA - JUL 29, 2011
Bottle purchased in NV: Tenuous texture and carbonation. Flavor is a little thin and weak as well. Some hints of caramel and sugar water. Not necessarily bad flavors, they’re just too light and unexciting. Mild bitterness. Aromas lack depth and charisma. Ironically, this one’s easy to forget.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 bnoel09 (273) - Elk Grove, California, USA - MAY 15, 2012
As Ballistic Brewing Gargoyle IPA. Poured from the 12oz bottle into a shaker. Medium amber with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel and bread malts with a slight hint of floral hops. Flavor is bready malt with some floral hoppiness on the finish. Light bodied with a sharp mouthfeel. Overall this was quite underwhelming. Tasted more like a regular pale ale than an IPA. As a side note, for some reason the label shows a temperature of 14 degrees F, so perhaps this was meant to be enjoyed as a popsicle?
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Bartzilla (480) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Pretty run of the mill IPA. They sure seem to be promising a lot on the bottle. Came in a 4 pack at Fresh N Easy. Neat label, average beer. Kinda taste like blood on the finish. Not sure how I feel about that.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 fiveacestx (162) - Texas, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Bottle - for reasons unknown to me, the label says "Ameni" instead of "Amesia" (whatever). Pours golden with an average head. Has sort of a watered down (yet dry) citrus taste to it and a metallic finish. Drank half and shared the other half with the kitchen sink.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mile (1458) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 20, 2012
Bottle. Light amber, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and fruitiness, faint piney hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light fruitiness with light piney hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel, light piney hoppyness. Sweetish IPA with too much caramel (and not enough bitternes).
2.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 doboy (336) - Morehead City, North Carolina, USA - APR 13, 2012
All the way from Vegas! Thanks Ken and Tina! I think! Aroma was citrusy, sort of like orange. Poured an orangish color, hazy, with a head that took time to tame. retained extremely well. Flavor was more citrusy than anything, somewhat thin. Didn’t really work for me.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ratman197 (5944) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 4, 2012
Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber hgead. Aromas of crackers, earthiness, orange zest and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of crackers, earthiness and light orange zest with a smooth lightly bitter finish.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ronaldtheriot (449) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - FEB 11, 2012
This is a very weird beer. Amnesia I.P.A. has a thin, egg-shell colored head and a hazy, dark amber appearance that really clouds up once one swishes the bottom 20% and pours it in. Little brown chunks are also floating about. The aroma is rich, caramel, grapefruit, and spicy, but the flavor comes across flat, watery, somewhat fruity (turned fruit, really), and odd. Mouthfeel is medium and fluffy, and Anmesia I.P.A. finishes fairly refreshing, yet one gets a bit of a turned flavor. Certainly, if nothing else, it’s interesting. I’d say it’s worth a try for those who like off-the-wall beer flavors. RJT
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dchmela (2271) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Thanks to Maltjo for the bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a thick white head. Resiny pine hop aroma light malt body with resiny pine citrus hops. Much more of a standard ipa, easier drinking and sessionable. Decent brew.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Johnsense (283) - - JAN 7, 2012
Enjoyed (debateable) in the US after Christmas. Poured hazy amber with 2 fingers of head. Not much aroma - some malt and the faintest bit of hops. Taste was watery, earthy, some crystal malt, a slight bit more hops than an Alex Keiths. Went down like water but why would I want another? Ponder this - likely the best beer from this brewer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mjg74 (2139) - La Mesa, California, USA - DEC 25, 2011
Fairly light in color on pouring. Somewhat hopped nose with a bit of sweetness. Dry and somewhat earthy tasting. The hop character is there but it is extremely dry and subdued. A bit of a mineral tinge. Not too bad. Earlier Rating: 9/9/2008 Total Score: 2.7 Bottle from Whole Foods. Deep amber in color on the pour. Really earthy/mineral aroma. Dry and peppery. Somewhat hoppy, but this beer seems to be dominated by sweet maltiness and a sort of mineral taste. Very funky tasting.
