3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12olz bottle picked up in New Orleans. Deep unfiltered brown-black. Rather mellow sweet mouthfeel, slightly doughy, some gingerbread. Nice steady thick beige head. Sweet cocoa banana notes, light fruity pungency. Quite enjoyable, not overwhelmingly sticky or strong. Not quite on the level of a World Class German, but quite OK. (I didnt know the ABV when I drank it, and clearly didn’t assume it was 10.8%)

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a fizzy, thin, totally unretained, ivory head, over, a clear brown (SRM 20) body.....nose is light cereal, minimal fruits, no hops.....taste is slightly sweet, barest hints of dried fruits, minimal hops.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol heat present, carbonation adds fizz. This is a remarkably simple example of the style with only the barest hints of what it should have in aroma and flavor. If this bottle were not abused, and I can’t know its history, then the recipe needs a boat load of rework. BJCP 6/2/9/3/5

"at 10.8 i still had hope for this one after 6 crappy beers, but it sucked as well. i’m actually surprised at the decent scores it’s received. looks great, but for lack of head, like most of em. this had a nice malt backbone on top of what wound up as a drainpour beer. i really hope this isn’t the best they can do. this brewery sucks! where the hell are the high three’3 coming from? not from what i drank

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Las Vegas, NV - Total Wine - Summerlin - 12 oz bottle. Dark reddish brown pour with a medium thick off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and brown sugar. Flavor has some molasses, a touch of brown sugar and some date-like fruitiness. Decently thick mouthfeel. Much better than my only other experience with this brewer - the Mojave Red.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
[Bottle] Deep garnet color with a decent looking white head. Aroma is of sticky caramel malts and distinct alcohol. Sweet caramel, burnt toast, molasses and dark fruits in the taste. Distinct harsh alcohol notes are expected given the high ABV and thin mouthfeel. Didn’t do much for me. Tasting notes from 2012.

Bottle shared at Craft. Poured hazy dark brown with tan head. Nose was earthy malt, fig, cacao, nuts, hops. Tasted earthy with vienna-ish malt, nuts, hops, cacao, and molasses. Well hidden alcohol.

Pour from bottle. Drinks super easy for such a high abv. Pours dark brown with transient brown head. Really tasty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance was clear black with huge rocky beige lasting 3 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are raisin, fig, sweet Munich, pale, chocolate malts. The alcohol is well hidden. Taste are sweet chocolate, cocoa, toasty malts. Deep fruits are slight fig, date, raisin with no alcohol. Palate was silky smooth overcarbonated with medium body, then metallic slightly dryish lasting finish. I’ve had this before, this taste like a bad bottle hopefully.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep brown with hint of red Small beige head with some lacing. Muted aroma some caramel and malt. Taste is quite metallic and semi sweet. Very low carbonation. Amazed to see the abv. Not much hint of that anywhere. Quite watery on the palate. Goes down way to easy for an ale this strong. On tap at Stovepipe Wells Death Valley

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A - pours dark ruby mahogany with low off white head. S - smell is weak simple lightly smokey very grainy. Dog food, metallic, watered down molasses. M - super watery, light body. Amazing for a 10% beer. Flat and easy drinking. T - water, light dog food, grains, metallic something fierce like other Indian wells brews. O - so light and drinkable. I can't believe it's 10% 2.5

On tap in Stovepipe Wells. Pours a dark brown color with a bit of head. Chocolate and malt flavors. The high alcohol isn't so noticeable.
