On tap. Orange pour, fuzzy white head. Aroma is yeasty, pepper, some earthy, funky (Brett?) tones, hint of cinnamon. Medium body, a little sticky. Slightly sour and spicy. Medium finish. Not my favourite style but it’s well made, balanced and a nice challenging brew.

Not bad. Pours good with good head. From growler. Aroma has hint of spices and slight hops with rye. Taste is mild bitter with the rye dominating the palate. I don’t know if I would have called this a real IPA but its okay.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 neongolden (166) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 23, 2012
(on draught at the brewpub, 12-20-12) Poured clear amber with a small, bubbly white head. Aroma of bready malts, rye I suppose, with some spicy yeast and a bit of citrus and leafy hops. Flavour mostly yeasty spice, grainy malts, some citrusy fruit and moderately high bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is moderately full and oily with light carbonation and no hint of booze. Not as much yeasty fruit on the palate as I’d like from a Belgian IPA, which can work well with the hops in my opinion. Still well-made, good balance, nothing really out of place.

At the brewpub. Clear amber colour, nice rye bread aroma, noticeable hops as well. Nicely balanced with sweet biscuity malts. Earlier Rating: 10/21/2012 Total Score: 4 On tap at the brewpub. Very nice brew, one of the best - so far. Clear light amber colour, nice off-white head and lace to spare. Balanced Pale Ale with nice bitter

Wow, love the style and it’s hard to find in town! On tap at Bar Volo, one of the best beers in the city. Amazing hops and fruity with the belgian yeast. Inventive, adventurous and very good.
Mush have in the city - will have to go visit the newly opened brewery.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7029) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 1, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Light golden colour with a white head, and lacey. Subtle spice aromas and yeast. Medium mouthfeel. Mostly a story of yeast taste, with rye in the back end. Some wheat, a decent rye oriented beer. OK drinkability. Earlier Rating: 11/11/2011 Total Score: 3.4 On tap at The Rhino. Emphasis on the Belgian. I was getting a strong, Unibroue yeasty-like Belgian, with a hoppy finish. Hop aromas.Peach colour with a quarter of an inch retained beige head. Good drinkability, corriander, significant musty yeast and some booziness. A little wheat. A sipper, but its good drinkability and mouthfeel. Some fruitiness.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 solidfunk (1786) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2012
Smells a little citrsy. Hops have a decent amount of fruit in them. Pours. Cloduy amber. Tons of lacing. Palate isn’t super complex, just a little bitterness and hop aftertaste. Pretty good for a regular IPA Though, above average complexity. On tap at volos.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2012 2012-09-27. Dark orange body, small beige head. 3+ Pretty bitter up front, spicy rye character, mild citrusy hops underneath, light leafy green undertones. Rye and hop bitterness linger in the finish. 7+ Aroma of spicy rye, mild citrus hops. Average plus palate. Well executed, enjoyable. 7/3/7/3/15 3.5 On tap at Brewmarket, Brick Works, Toronto
2011-10-30. Lightly hazy golden orange, small white head. 3+ Fairly bitter, lightly astringent, odd fruity character, and a vaguely spicy character that has a sharp finish. Interesing aroma, lightly spice with mild fruit notes. Smooth medium bodied palate. Decent, bit sharp it almost felt more triple like at times. 7/3/7/3/14 3.4 Cask Days 2011, Toronto

August 23, 2011 - on draught at Burger Bar. Bright and clear amber with a huge lasting creamy whipped cream head. Aroma - sharply yeasty, that pungent intensely and dryly floral Belgian kind, very bitter indeed but floral, maybe marigold, not citrus or resin - no detracting alcohol or sugariness either. There IS citrus in the flavour (orange zest), but it’s still mostly about the dry floral bitterness, and it does have some malt sweetness as well - plus the alcohol emerges in the taste - nice, but smelled ever better. Astringent, dry mouthfeel, fairly thick, lightly carbonated, reasonably long bitter dried flower finish, with some grapefruit pith in the linger. **** My initial rating was 3.5 but I have had this a few more times and I have grown to appreciate this beer a lot, it is its own beast.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Spab (1639) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 19, 2012
On tap at Volo. Pours a cloudy golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is apple, spice. Flavour is quite spicy, fruity and citric. Sort of sour, weird finish. Ok.
