3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep dark brown pour. Thin head. The nose is interesting - very earthy malt base. Lots of dark malt and some nice light bitterness. An earthy sort of flavour with light cocoa and some nice soft peppery character. Moderate bitterness but not a lot of hop flavour - it’s sort of a strong mild rather than a bitter but it’s nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at the brewpub. Pours a very dark ruby-brown, almost black, with a small diminishing frothy off-white head and some minimal lacing. Mild aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit, hints of coffee and chocolate. Fruity flavour with caramel malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Average bodied. Nice and flavourful for a low abv beer, I enjoyed it.
