(On tap at the brewpub, Mar 8 2014) Pours a very dark brown with a small pale tan cap of tiny bubbles. Aroma of roast malt, a little coffee, slightly nutty. On the palate, dark malt provides initial sweetness alongside a medium roast, some chocolate. The oats make themselves known mid-palate with a dry cereal character, along with some hop bitterness towards the finish that cuts right through the malt sweetness. The finish is very dry and oaty with a bit of roast. Fairly full-bodied for a porter thanks to oats, a little creamy, soft carb. I like the notion but thought the oats ended up killing a bit of the flavour later on. Still pretty good.

On tap at beerbistro, so it was served a little bit too cold, as all their beers seem to be. Pours jet black and has mocha, espresso and oatmeal like notes on the aroma. similar mocha, roast and oats on the flavour profile make this a darn tasty beer.

pushkinwow (1842) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2014
On tap at brewpub. Nice dark brown with beige head. Welcoming roasted malt with a bit of nutiness and coffee, smooth, moderate carbonation and body, chocolate and dry malt on the finish. Good porter.

sudomorph (377) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 26, 2013
Cask Days 2013. Not sure if it’s bourbon aged. Pours a very dark brown with a a few bubbles around the ring. Aroma has hints of booze, caramel, and roasted malts. Taste is sweet but not unbalanced. Medium sweet/bitter aftertaste. Low-medium body and carbonation. Overall not bad. A bit thin with not much but a boozy flavor. Might order again to retry.

on tap at bar volo. pours with very dark head, nice dark brown appearance. accompanied with some sharp cheese which brought out the warmth of the beer and all the caramel flavours. "down the gullet."

Cask. (Rating #4568)

Aroma: mid intensity, frontal roast, some chocolate followed. Smooth with good depth. 7+
Look: poured dark brown with lighter top.
Taste / Palate etc.: grainy, husky, tad metallic. Thinner walls with finish. Dark roast, tad rough. Softer s it warms up (finish). Late hop follow up.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2013 Super interesting for a porter. Pours cloudy brown with great initial head and lacing. Smells of malt and hops. The oats really bring a cereal taste into this. Medium palate with a medium bitter finish. On tap at brewpub.

Not usually a porter guy but this blew me away. Had a sip of a friends and bought two more - on tap at the brewery. Very full body and nice smoothness while still having great balance of coffee, chocolate and bitter notes. Very complex for a porter and may be ebst one I’ve had.
