Cask. (Rating #4568)

Aroma: mid intensity, frontal roast, some chocolate followed. Smooth with good depth. 7+
Look: poured dark brown with lighter top.
Taste / Palate etc.: grainy, husky, tad metallic. Thinner walls with finish. Dark roast, tad rough. Softer s it warms up (finish). Late hop follow up.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2013 Super interesting for a porter. Pours cloudy brown with great initial head and lacing. Smells of malt and hops. The oats really bring a cereal taste into this. Medium palate with a medium bitter finish. On tap at brewpub.

Not usually a porter guy but this blew me away. Had a sip of a friends and bought two more - on tap at the brewery. Very full body and nice smoothness while still having great balance of coffee, chocolate and bitter notes. Very complex for a porter and may be ebst one I’ve had.

On tap. Mahogany pour. I got no head on this but he warned me the keg was tapped 4 days ago. Mocha, nutty, slight booze, coffee and licorice. Nice and smooth, not overly rich or thick. Roasted, nutty flavours. Sweet maltiness followed with a mildly bitter medium finish. Booze well hidden. Warmed the cockles.

A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate with light rum notes, not bad. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with light vanilla, coffee, toffee, nice. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest Sept 29 2012.

Cask at Vankleek Hill’s/Beau’s Oktoberfest. Reddish, somewhat translucent brown with short-lasting beige head. Smells fruity, and like chocolate and roast. Taste is red and black berries, roasted, chocolate. Light fruity bitterness in the finish, fruit taste remains. Light bodied. Quite good!
