3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (6967) - Toronto, ON, - SEP 26, 2011
Tap at the Rhino. Deep brown pour with a thin, tight tan head. The aroma is nicely chocolately. A little bit of soft coffee and a fairly rich malt base. There is a fairly fruity aroma through the middle (blackberry and a bit of toasted fruit as well). Soft and slightly sweet with a lingering sort of earthiness. Nice and balanced. It doesn’t really taste like 6.9 but it’s still tasty.

Draught at Burger Bar. Pours dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head with decent lacing on the glass. Nice aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, chocolate, a touch of vanilla and some light leafy hops. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and some sweetness, a bit sweeter then the aroma suggests. Lightly roasty finish. Medium bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Very good stuff.

Quite nice - pours dark brown, finger or so of head. Aromas are dark chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, toast. Quite rich and sweet, without being syrupy. Very smooth body (from oats+milk?). Fills you up quick. I’d have it again.

2011-09-21. Black body with a nice beige head and lace. 4+ Modestly roasty aroma, modest sweet malt undercurrents. 7+ Flavour is similar, modest roast with a sweetish malt base, very light roasty bitterness. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate. 3+ A bit mild for a porter, I actually had to double check to confirm I hadn’t been served the mild, but it is superbly drinkable and like their other offerings on tap tonight feels like it is designed to be full flavoured yet emminently sessionable. Nice. 7+/5/7+/4/15 On tap as "Breakfast Porter" at Burger Bar, Toronto
2011-08-28. Black body with a nice tan head. 4+ Pleasant porter flavour - mild roast over a fairly sweet body, dark malt, light herbal
anise like character in the finish. 7+ Aroma has a tangy fruity quality to it. Mild roast over dark malt. 7+ Smooth average plus body. 3+ A pretty solid porter! 7/5/7/3/15+ On tap at Brewers Market, Toronto
