Homebrewer’s Tap Takeover collaboration with Indie Alehouse Staff. We took a bright citrusy pale ale and added lime peel, orange peel and tequila soaked oak to distill our favorite Mexican drink into a brew.

[5830-20130917] Tap. Light ginger-spiced toasted grains aroma. Slightly hazy, bright orange red body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head with thick lacing. Sweet toasted cinnamon grains flavour. Medium body. Interesting, not sure why I’m getting funny spice infusions. (7/3/7/4/15) 3.6

Draught at ’Indie Alehouse Homebrewers Tap Takeover’. Pours a deep golden-orange with a spare lasting white head. Mild fruity aroma along with some spice, oak and a bit of vanilla. Interesting flavour, in a good way, is fruity and spicy along with sweet malt and some wood. Average bodied. Good stuff, I quite liked it.

(Draught at brewpub, Sept 17 2013) Pours amber with a white head. Aroma wood and grain and a little tequila, not much citrus or hops on the nose up front but there might be a hint buried in there. Flavour is slightly sweet at first, caramel malt, lime, orange rind, then a real wood/tequila feel builds with a touch of booziness. Finish has a nutty character, bit of a citrus tang, metallic overtone. Dry but not very bitter. Body light and slightly watery, carbonation felt "metallic". I can’t say the elements really came together for me, it seemed muddled and unsure of what it wanted to be, even though in principle I like the individual components.

Indie ale hombrewer takeover showcase, made by the house staff. Brewed with orange and lime peel, tequila soaked oak. I found this sugary and odd, many characteristics that could be good by itself but together rather odd. Looks good with lace sheet. Malty aroma.

2013-09-17. Very lightly hazy orange amber body with a nice beige head and lace. 3++ Aroma of sweaty malt (probably tequila and oak in hindsight) and lime peels, sweet malt. Flavour is relatively mild to start, lime like citrus accents character, sweetish malt core, whisper of ginger that I suspect is my brain misfiring on something that deserves a more accurate descriptor. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Not really a fan of this one, it is not bad but feels a touch muddled overall and I’d like more oomph to the lime and citrus. On tap at Indie Alehouse Homebrewers Tap Takeover event, Toronto Beer Week
