On tap at Volo. Pours a cloudy orangey amber with moderate-sized off-white head. Aroma is quite spicy with banana and hint of clementine. Flavour also very spicy - ginger, cinnamon and others - toast, banana and gentle clementine. Average body. Nice.

Pour at the Indie. Notable addition to the description, as told by the server, is that this is a Wit with clove, pomegranate, and clementine. This is a miss by Indie, who consistently make great beers. Smells of pine, grass. Taste of grass, pine and a really weird aftertaste of cigarette smoke. (My wife describes the after-taste as +"totally weed" not smoke, just weed.) Not a good beer.

Kind of a winter warmer, on tap at the brewpub. Lacy, spicy, ok drinkability. Others will like it better.

[5047-20130102] Tap. Light curried spicy nutmeg grains. Slightly hazy, red brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy subdued spices in the flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

Overheard: "Two ounces all at once tastes better."

January 2, 2013 - on draught at Indie Alehouse. Bright and refractive clear bright copper with a small fizzy/creamy off-white to beige head. Aroma is spices and ... mostly just spicy, a bit like the old GR Jubilation. Taste is only mildly spicy compared to the aroma, hardly any alcohol - some bitterness from some source ... a little light bodied, airy enough but not all that carbonated, finishes quickly, just leaves a grain and spice aftertaste, a little dry.

Darkish appearance with a thin lace. Spice/herb flavour with a plastic texture. Some toastiness in the finish.

Deep brown pour. The nose is quite spicy and phenolic. A bit of rum and molasses along with some light cocoa and toffee. Dark malt and some light plasticky character. Thereís a little bit of smoke in here as weíll. I donít know if this yeast and these malts play all that well together.

On tap at Barhop. Pours a dark opaque black with a bit of chocolate head. Smell is burnt nuts, a bit of chocolate and a bit of licorice. Palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied with slightly lacking carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet at first the gets bitter/sour, and a long roasted aftertaste. Not sure I like this, itís akin to drinking roasted chestnuts.

Pours a very dark amber, thin tan head. Really intriguing aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, dark fruit, yeast, grass, herbal and floral. Medium body, a little oily. Smooth, a little sweet and dry. Balanced, not overpowering at all for the elements in the aroma. Very nice.

Thanks to my sister for the growler. Pours a somewhat surprising to me dark brown with a small velvety light brown head. I guess I read Wit and I thought cloudy golden. Aroma is nutmeg and roasted malts. Taste is spicy with nutmeg and toasted malts. Some molasses. Interesting brew.
