3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on 1/20/12 from a 12oz bottle sent to me by Roonai, big thanks. Pours dark cola brown with no head, but a very thin collar of tan lace. The nose is sour red wine vinegar, with underlying aromas of freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is much more lemon acidic and sour with some vinegar, and the dark chocolate and coffee showing up on the back of the palate. The body is pretty thin and watery, with just a light tinge of carbonation, and a long sour lemon, dark chocolate, and coffee finish. I really disliked the first couple sips of this beer, but it grows on me more after each sip.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from deyholla. Thanks Derek! It pours dark brown with no head, very still actually. The aroma is reminiscent of raisinettes with some coffee and alcohol. Not picking up any sour qualities. The flavor is pleasantly tart up front with hints of prunes, raisins and cherries followed by some cocoa, hints of fecal funkiness and big time coffee in the finish. No carbonation at all save some mild prickliness on the tongue. This is not a big beer, so it lacks the body and mouthfeel that you may expect from the big flavors it delivers. It would have been better with a tad more carbonation, but not at all bad. Interesting, and I’m glad I tried it.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
bottle at dak’s 1/31/11.
dead flat pour. porter colored brown.
it is definitely tart in the nose... also, it is a bit vinous, tart fruity, roast, ash and chocolate.
the flavor is the same only with a ton of lactic sourness... it tastes like they fukced up their porter and still sold if off!
it is on the thin side and completely void of carbonation. 6/3/6/1/11

bottle from trade with non rater. weak aroma, More malty than sour, Little chocolate. not much to it. Reddish brown color, no head or lace. Mildly sour flavor, Medium bosy, smmoth mouthfeel, moderate sout finish. Don’t know if I held onto it too long, or this was just a meh sour. Now looking at people comments I’m assuming I held onto too long. long line of beer I’ve held onto to too long....

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from deyholla, thanks Derek! Pours a mostly black colored body with only the slightest hint of brown lace that dissipates immediately and leaves no lacing. Aroma is rich dark chocolates, caramel, roast, and a light dark fruit that gives off barely a hint of sourness. Flavor is much more sour than the aroma, but it still has a nice roast and chocolate element to it. Sour cherries and lightly tart up front with a bit of a vinous, acidic feel. Very thin feeling initially before the richer chocolates and light caramel ever-so-slightly boost the body before a balancing roastiness comes in. Sour cherries grow a bit towards the end, but are balanced nicely with the rich malts and roasts. Dry finish with a touch of wood to assist the sourness and roasts. Lengthy aftertaste following a thin body and virtually no carbonation. Overall, a pretty tasty beer. I liked the balance on this one a lot. There was a distinct sourness, but plenty of porter elements to back it up. If there were any carbonation at all, this would be much better though. Despite that, this was an interesting and unique beer that I enjoyed.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz Bottle thanks to Secret Santa. Pours out a cloudy brown with a ring as a head. Aroma was roast, infection, funk, dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate. Taste was not good. This tasting like it was an accident. A good porter that got infected and they slapped a special label on it. I think Deschutes could have done the same thing with the 09 Abyss and people would have been all over it. This one was not for me.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12. Thanks, Mike! Pours black with no head, lace, or legs. Molasses and overripe cherries on the nose. Watery flat body. Not much flavor happening, maybe a little tart tang from heavy sugar presence. Mild finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown pour with a small head. Aroma is slightly sour and roasty. Flavor is similar. Some roast, coffee, sourness, fruit. Not bad, but sorta weird.
