COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust porter brewed in the classic style with black and caramel malts. Porter: A person in charge of a door or gate, a person hired to carry luggage at a railroad station or hotel. "Give me an Imp!" Indigo Imp beers are real ales: unfiltered, unpasteurized, and naturally carbonated. They are robust in flavor and aroma. Only the finest ingredients are used to produce these unique, open fermented beers. Cheers!

pours an awesome black with a decent dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate covered cherries and small coffee notes, fruity aroma is making me think that again indigo imp has used some sort of belgian yeast. taste is dark chocolate covered cherry, roasty malts, some coffee, not enough hops for me to call this a porter. once again from this brewer, they have made a great beer, just poor for the style they list it under.

Overly carbonated, which took away from the flavor. Nose of roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Not really worth writing about.

Very disappointing. I am wondering if it was a bad batch or had become too warm before reaching the store.

Far from the best porter I’ve had, but decent and one of the better Indigo Imp beers I’ve had recently.

Pours a pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts with a hint of chocolate. Flavor of coffee/roasted malts with some sort of fruity flavor as well. Quite thin in the mouth. Burnt coffee taste lingers.

Dark with a beige head. Aroma is malty, sweet ripe fruit, light roasted malt. Full bodied. Flavor has a definite ripened fruit note, sweet malts, roasted malts. It’s not so bad.

I like a natural beer like this; the slight sourness is exactly what I have seen in some porters of the past. The flavor is bitter, coffeeish, dark chocolate, and slightly lactic. Aroma is slightly nutty, bitter chocolate, earth. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Served quite cold at Bodega in Columbus.

Aroma: Rich caramel and brown sugar aroma with hints of toffee. Appearance: Dark brown with a thick, tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. Taste: Light bitterness with medium-heavy sourness, hints of salt in the finish. Palate: Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Ugh...Much to bitter and vinegary. Very disappointed and uninspired by this beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown in color with a thin beige film that disappears quickly. The aroma has some roasted malts, a touch of caramel and some off notes. I’m not certain of the age on this beer but that may be a factor. The flavor has some dark maltiness, a touch of roast, but also has a slight acidity and thin mouth feel. This is probably a bit past its prime and I may revisit again.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2012 [*EDIT* THIS is the reason I keep trying new beers. It is everything I hope for when I open a new bottle. Absolutely brilliant.]My first Indigo Imp beer, bottle in a mixed six from the grocery store. Pours a very dark brown, tiny tan head disappears quickly. Light lacing left on glass, fairly low carbonation. Nice roasty/toasty and coffee notes, perhaps a hint of chocolate and some sort of nuts, but nothing really dominant that I can pick out. Aftertaste is chocolatey coffee, and delightful. The low sweetness is nice, as I don’t like overly sweet porters. This is a very, very tasty bottle-conditioned concoction. I will definitely see what else Indigo Imp has to offer. Seems like another fine brewery doing things right here in the Cleveland and Akron area.
