One of the best beers made in Monterrey. I believe the malt taste makes it special. It's unfortunate there's no place to get it in the US, or at least not to my knowledge.

This might be your better choice in mexico where your options are Corona & Sol.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2003 More than I expected. Not at all bad. Not great either. But good.
My Mexican pal brought a orange box full of this, Sol, Victoria, and a few others from Mexico over for me to rate, and this was the best. Not as good as Negra Modelo. Not too nasty.

came across this in a random store in the middle of mexico city..the locals said it was good..and guess what i was pleasantly surprised..the color was darker than the normal mexican, the mouthfeel was thick, can you believe that..thick and solid..but was lagery everthing else..however..it was pretty damn good considering im in mexico.

Extremely smooth and one of the few Mexican brews that doesn’t require a lime to be on hand in case it is old or mishandled. I say this, as we usually must bring several cases back across the border with us each month because it is not available in the USA. A much better beer than Negra Modelo, Dos Equis Amber or Pacifico Lager.

This is the 3rd-best Mexican beer (after Negra Modelo and Victoria). Definitely a different flavor than I was expecting. This didn’t taste like a Lager to me, it actually had fruity tones and a pleasant aroma.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dogbrick (6041) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 11, 2002
I got this at the airport in Acapulco. Pretty red/gold color with a thin head that didn’t stick around too long. Light malty and fruity aroma. The flavor was a little surprising, as I tasted some fruit (particularly raspberry) when I had been expecting more of a malty, Vienna-style drink. It was not too far on the fruit beer side though and I didn’t find it too bad at all. A little thinner than I normally like but a decent summer beer and a great alternative to the Corona/Modelo crowd if you can find one in Mexico.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 omhper (17472) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 22, 2002
UPDATED: MAY 22, 2013 Draught at Frankfurt, Polanco, Mexico City. Clear nut brown, mid sized head. Caramelly nose. Mid sweet with light-medium body and clean mouthfeel. Fruit, caramel and, wait - that’s it. Perhaps slight boiled vegetables. Low bitterness. Perhaps not the most exciting beer in the worldm, but a reasonable drinkable and clean macro amber lager.
