A Lager-type beer with an amber hue and a distinctive light caramel-malt taste.

Bottle at a Mexican restaurant in Lombard: No Way Jose. Served with a frosted mug. Meh. But at least he asked first if I wanted a lime. Nice brown pour, leaving a thin layer of foam. Smell from the bottle carries a good dose of brown malt. Taste also has mellow brown malts. I think there’s some corn, but it’s not that obvious. The mug is causing icy bits of beer to form, so I’m doing most of the rating from the bottle. There I get a good impression of a smooth amber beer with a clean lager finish and no graininess. A good palate cleanser for the really spicy salsa this place serves. Filling, and leaves a good "burp," too.

Easily the worst Mexican beer I’ve ever tasted. Perhaps I got a skunked sixer down in Sonoyta, Son., but this tasted solely of adjuncts and sandpaper, with little caramel or malt anywhere. Highly unrecommended.

Poured up a really nice amber with a decent head. Looked really good and made me all set to try this. The smell was a bit grainish with not much else to make me think this was going to be good. The taste was about the same with a hint of caramel in there. Very week, watery beer that might be good for taking care of a thurst on a hot summer day but other than that wouldn’t want it. So while it looks nice in a glass it is not really much for beer.

Aroma of corn tortillas. Taste is light, slightly malty, pretty bland. A definite sub-par brew.

AROMA: A malt forward smell - hints of caramel. APPEARANCE: A deep clear amber pour with a short lived tan head and minimal lacing. TASTE: There is not a strong presence here. A pleasant sweet pallet which seems watered down. Slight bitterness on the finish. A bready aftertaste exists. MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light bodied with minimal carbonation. OVERALL: Once I saw the beautiful dark amber pour, I'd hoped for more than the blandness I got. This wouldn't even go well with Mexican food. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not bad as far as mexican corn based vienna style lagers go. A little more balanced and less sweet and corny than many of its counterparts, but still nothing to write home about.

Clear Amber with a thin beige head. Moderate amount of carbonation. Sweet malty aroma with a somewhat dry taste with good hop balance. Not sure why this beer is so expensive. Finishes clean and dry.

Bottle at TPSA. Pours a dark caramel with a very thin head. Nose has some sweetness to it. It’s awfully light for a dark lager, and awfully smoky/roasty for a vienna; it tries to straddle that line, and only sort of manages it. If you want something with more umph than Dos Equis but still has that Mexican lager lack of substance, this would work. Me, I’ll stick with schwarzbier.

Amber in color, clear with a light head. Very little flavor and very little going for it. Glad I tried this for free.

Bottle from Northgate/Gonzales Market: Poured a darker than usual amber or dirty copper color with a decent amount of frothy foam head. Nose is empty and has no real smell profile other than the obvious signs that it is a beer. The flavor is so bland and boring and tastes as though I am drinking carbonated water with sugar added or if I’m drinking a bad fountain poured soda from a fast food joint. Few times that I have come across this beer its always so damn expensive, but in the end its not even close to being worth any price they ask unless its on sale at a Big Lots or something for under $5 a six pack.
