COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Julehvede (Christmas Wheat) is reddish as dark amber and has a fine, smooth maltflavour. The beer has a fine balance between cinnamon and a light spiced sweet with a touch of cloves. Julehvede is full bodied and is perfectly suited for the traditional Christmas Lunch or Christmas Eve dinner. A smooth beer that taste like christams smells. Julehvede is brewed on 6 different malts. The beer is to be served at 6 - 8 celcius in a hefeglass, so aroma and head is perfectly displayed.

Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Cloudy amber with thin whitish head. Sweet wheat, some yeast and clove in aroma. Flavor is quite yeasty with some sweetness, mostly wheat in this case. Slightly fruity and even some ripe banana in finish. Nice hefeweizen, even if it is a bit on the sweeter side.

Rating #781, bottle brought by Troels to christmas brew tasting 2012. Reddish unclear amber-coloured beer with just a minor head. Aroma of berries, maybe blackcurrant, port wine, raisins and prunes. Flavor is wheat malts, caramel, mild berries, a bit metal and bitterness. Medium thickness, but soft and creamy feel nontheless. A nice brew with a good deal of weizenbock associations.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20121208) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had clove, boiled vegetables and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, clove, boiled vegetables, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Either the keg had gone bad or this beer is just lousy - I assume the former.

0.5l bottle. This is a deep glowing orange cloudy one with a nice medium sized off-white top. In the aroma I get a soft fruitiness with traces of vanilla, cloves, ripe old berries and wheat. Could be that it’s a bit to cold so will leave it for a while. It opens a bit more up, sweeter and maltier. Nice stuff. It has that same thick oily mouthfeel the whole hvede-series has and it’s soft on the carbonation. Softly spicy flavors, some cardboard and wet cat with sweet red really ripe berries. Almost no bitterness what so ever in this. It has a light pepper-spicy aftertaste that gives a soft burn down the throat. Not to Christmassy either in my opinion, but nice enough. 04.11.2012

Shared 0,5 l bottle from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. Hazy golden-orange body with a small dense off-white head. Wooden butter malts nose. Buterscotch, heavy sweet flavor. Medium body.

0.5 L bottle purchased @Vinmonopolet, Vika. A low fully diminishing ashy-blond head, upon a hazy orangey amber body. Bon bon sweet fruitiness to the nose, along with a scent of sugary nutty malts. Taste is cloyingly sweet. Malty, with some spice tones and a vague fruity acidity down below, but far from balancing the dominating sweetness. Palate coating. Juicy texture. Sweet fruity and sweet malty ending, with a wee spice note. Not for me, this one.

500ml bottle @ Willi AMK Töölö, Helsinki. Pours cloudy orange with thin white head. Fruity, spicy, wheaty aroma with flavour pretty much the same. Spicy finish. Ok, but nothing spectacular.
