[Draft @ brewery] Opaque dark brown body, good head formation. Smoke and a little hop on the nose. Good chewy malt palate, although not at all heavy in body. Sweet toffee and burnt caramel flavors, lingering chocolaty aftertaste. Really good porter.

22 oz. bottle that someone left at my place. I asked around, waited a while, and will wait no longer. This one pours a dark brown that shows some amber when held up to light. Small tan head. There’s a lot of chocolate in the aroma, dark and fudge, along with some earth and a black olive note throughout. Same with the flavor, that odd black olive thing. Aside from that, seems to be a straightforward porter. Light-medium bodied, smooth and robust, moderate carbonation.

Black with a creamy tan head. Nice strong chocolate roasted grain aroma and taste with a strong toasty finish.

Draft. Medium brown pour, with a light tan head. Roasty, dark chocolate, light coffee notes, sweet malt, and some earthy/grassy hops. Kind of thin. Marginal at best.

A: The pour is dark brown, but just barely. A tan head sits on top. S: Roasted malts and dark chocolate make up the bulk of the aroma. There’s a bit of coffee and some earthy hop notes to the beer as well. T: Similar description for the flavors. Quite roasty with some dark chocolate, both of which give the beer bitterness. Some coffee notes and the same earthy hop character from the nose. The flavor is sweeter than the nose lets on, however. M: On the lighter end of medium in body with a moderate carbonation. O: Not my favorite porter. The flavors just aren’t quite right.

Growler from the brewery. Rating #3. Pitch black with a nice chocolate brown head. Big roasty aroma, coffee and a bit of chocolate. Roasty bitterness up front and it lasts for a good while, a bit thin, but overall not too shabby. (1379)

1st Rating :) Poured a dark brownish black with small head. Aroma and taste was roasted malts with hints of coffee. Very nice balance between roastiness and maltiness. Very good porter.
