beerbiere (100), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Mar 22, 2008 Amber color, low carbonation, small white head. Aroma of butter, crackerjack, maple syrup and flowers. Flavor starts with caramel sweetness then a vinous acidity (oak?) takes over and finally ends on discrete roasted malts bitterness. Despite a certain complexity, the flavors do not melt very well. The palate is a bit thin and watery. Intersting? No that much. An IPA? Probably not.
Ethereal (1167), London, Greater London, England Jan 2, 2009 330ml bottle, 8th Noc 08. Lots of oak and cream soda on the nose. Light amber body with a thick white head. Lots of soft sweetness but not the hop bite you’d expect from something labelled as an IPA. The oak flavour rather overwhelms the underlying beer and by the end of the glass you feel that a better base material would have helped. TipsyMcStager (840), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 26, 2008 slight vanilla and toast aroma. Pours a golden yellow, thin head. Dominating vanilla sweetness. Hops? Not sure how this is an IPA. PaulHegedus (188), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden with an aroma of vanilla, smoke, caramel. I taste vanilla and butterscotch with some sour apple and caramel. Nothing like an IPA. Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2008 Clear golden-amber. Whiskeyish vanilla aroma. Low carbonation. Tons of sugar, again with light vanilla/whiskey notes. Kind of bland. Maybe some slight oxidation. Beershine (1526), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 2007 bottle @ Rhino. Clear amber with 1/2 inch white head. Intense whiskey aroma is funky, funny, and fun. Soft carbonation. Sweet, overripe fermented fruits. Tastes like a whiskey mixed drink. Also lots of funky wood character. Super strange. Not bad but would like to have had this one fresh.
