pootzboy (855), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Dec 5, 2007 Gift-boxed 30ml bottle 2007 edition
Poured a deep gold with a 1 finger sticky cap.
Aromas of thick caramel some earthy and woody tones
Interesting IPA..richly malty with deep caramel tastes and some light apple tones in the front..middle gets a tad more interesting..earthy-woody-tart like sour peach...finishes wet with a sweet and sour woody after taste.
Not what I look for in an IPA...and I fought the idea that the "butterscotch" aromas and tastes were diacetyl... but certainly well matured rounded ale, very soft to the mouth with interesting unique complexity...but a tad sweet for my liking

Taste: Oaky and smokey. Caramel again. Unpleasant taste.
Info: 330ml bottle, 30/3-2008 Spab (8), Toronto, Ontario, Canada does not count Jun 27, 2008 Bottle from LCBO. Pours nice full yellow colour with a thin white head. Aroma has an oaky sweetness about it. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Taste is full of malts with some oakiness and sweetness. Fairly bitter finish. bobinlondon (123), Harrow, Greater London, England Jun 23, 2008 Bottled from my local Waitrose. Reading the blurb on the neat little box that this came in, I was expecting a real hop treat. There were interesting wood flavours present but hardly any hops what so ever! Very dissopointing. bman1986 (12), Broadstairs, Kent, England Jun 20, 2008 Bottle from Waitrose, Ramsgate. Pours a deep yellow colour. Aroma is full of vanilla with a little oak and toffee. A lot of oak and vanilla in the flavour, also giving way to a lovely whisky finish. Stunning beer. Maltybones (36), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Jun 16, 2008 Bottle. Looks the standard golden-yellow, high carb, with a quick receeding white head. Aroma is like an oaked chardonnay, maybe sherry, and floral notes. Flavour starts oaky/whisky-like, with vanill anad citrus notes in the middle and a bready finish. Not a typical IPA, but quite drinkable.
