Illuminatus (87), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Mar 25, 2008 330mL boxed bottle from the LCBO. Pours gold, average head. Taste is bizarre: take the standard Innis & Gunn Oak Aged (a good beer), and mix it with a dash of an IPA. It doesn’t work. Weird citrusy hops meet the toffee-like standard Innis and Gunn. The flavours can’t mesh. It doesn’t work well.
Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2008 Clear golden-amber. Whiskeyish vanilla aroma. Low carbonation. Tons of sugar, again with light vanilla/whiskey notes. Kind of bland. Maybe some slight oxidation. Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 2007 bottle @ Rhino. Clear amber with 1/2 inch white head. Intense whiskey aroma is funky, funny, and fun. Soft carbonation. Sweet, overripe fermented fruits. Tastes like a whiskey mixed drink. Also lots of funky wood character. Super strange. Not bad but would like to have had this one fresh. johndoughty (1660), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Sep 12, 2008 Bottle. Has the signature vanilla flavour from this brewery. No hoppiness and not really an IPA-just a trendy name to put on the label. Slightly bitter.Quite pleasant but not very inspiring. radiomgb (1776), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 23, 2008 Golden-yellow in colour with a thin white coloured head, very light lacing. The aroma is very sweet, corn syrup and buttered popcorn. The flavour is again very sweet, more butter than in the aroma, chemical, light caramel. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation. Finishes lingering, harsh.
This is a butter bomb. I think that this might be better suited on my toast than in my beer glass.

Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a toffee colour with a thin, short duration head. Nose is woody, toasty, and sweet. Flavor is very smooth, more wood, sweet caramel and maybe roasted nuts. This was very smooth and was more enjoyable as the beer warmed. Delicious, I would totally have this one again. Thanks to blankboy for the bottle.
