Deep orange to copper in color with a thin head of fine white bubbles. The nose clearly shows the oak aging with vanilla and boozy scents followed by some hidden citrus. In the mouth it was medium-bodied and rich with soft, sweet citric flavors along with the vanilla and bourbon from the nose. The finish shows off some alcohol and also grabs a bit of dryness from the hops. While I don’t think barrel aging is the best thing for an IPA, I do believe they pull it off well enough here to make it an interesting beer0...thus bonus points for doing something different.

Bottle. Pours a toffee colour with a thin, short duration head. Nose is woody, toasty, and sweet. Flavor is very smooth, more wood, sweet caramel and maybe roasted nuts. This was very smooth and was more enjoyable as the beer warmed. Delicious, I would totally have this one again. Thanks to blankboy for the bottle.

Bottle from Kensington Wine Market Beer, Calgary
Golden color, with a thin persistent layer. It has a light aroma of toffee and fudge, very nice. Quite mellow mouthfeel, lean malt flavor, with vanilla and cookies, sweetish; there is also a touch of citrus fruits, maybe even sour. The final is not strong, with this mix of vanilla and citrus fruits. Not bad, but definitively strange.

Bottle, from Waitrose, Lincoln. Gold, thin but lasting white head and quite intrusive condition. Pleasant woody vanilla sweetness, some toffee and a faint citric twang in the nose, quite shortlived in the mouth with an initial caramel sweetness quickly evaporating leaving a brief sense of sourness that fades into a dry phenolic smokiness that lingers aimlessly

Bottle from LCBO. Pours nice full yellow colour with a thin white head. Aroma has an oaky sweetness about it. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Taste is full of malts with some oakiness and sweetness. Fairly bitter finish.
