Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised. Special - 2006
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise, Crystal malt and Roasted barley; Slovenian hops.
In April 2005, a specially brewed batch of this beer was filled into 100 hand selected ‘first fill’ bourbon casks to begin 107 days of unique character transformation.
Innis & Gunn are delighted to present the 2006 Limited Edition. This year we have chosen to oak-mature a style of beer that is darker, with a chocolate character from the roasted barley in the recipe, and aromatic, thanks to the use of zesty Slovenian hops.
Colour: Ruby Palate: Devilishly luxurious, rich chocolate character with a flourish of zesty hop complemented by mellow oak Finish: Rounded and satisfying, biscuit malt giving way to orange marmalade

An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood and caramel - and so is the flavor. Not much different from the standard I&G.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of Sammy. Pours a clear, warm, dark amber golden with a somewhat rough, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of wood and whisky. Medium body with a little caramel and lightly burned whisky notes. There’s a vague tartness underneath all of this. 051007

33 cL clear bottle (limited edition 2006). Pours amber to deep brown with a little lacing white head. Breadish roasted malt aroma, slight note of barrels. Flavour is malty and slight dried fruity, mildly woody. Ends mellow malty. Decent.

Bottle. Clear orange coloured with an off white head. Weird aroma of wood with notes of pine needles. Sweet flavour of wood, pine needles and honey.

Dark amber color. The aroma is dominated by the Bourbon vanilla, with a touch of orange flowers and curaçao. An average Ale, even if original, with some residual sweetness, a touch of milk chocolate and cocoa butter, caramel, vanilla. Well balanced. Pleasant without thrill.

A Mes rate: 33cl bottle from Waitrose. Better than the standard but nothing overly special. 2006 bottle is definitely darker and slightly more refined than I remember. Obvious whiskey notes to it and bags of malt. Slight caramel too.

<!-- i -->this is my beer #4000, so I will be egoistic and raise my glass to my 19 years of beerhunting !<!-- /i --> - it pours a clear ruby-amber colour under a rare and unregular foam; a beautiful, powerful and at the same time subtle, floral hoppy nose where notes of cognac and red fruits can be met; a bit toasty; slightly oily and with a good malt body, robust bitterness and a long hoppy, yeasty and fruity finish with a warming alcohol touch - complex and dangerously drinkable; thanks to fiulijn for this bottle !
