| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 12, 2007 330ml bottle - pours deep ruby copper with a bubbly/foamy white head on top that dissapeared rather fast. Aroma is full of strong notes of woody bourbon, with some sweet malt mingling amongst that. Little hops detectable. Quite unique in the flavour, where the whisky character really puts itself upfront, but the hops also make themselve more evident. The alcohol isn’t very evident, which is good, but unfortunately the flavour, unique as it is, doesn’t inspire me much. The whisky is too overbearing and just sort of muddles the whole experience for me. If I want bourbon, I drink bourbon. I’m not so fond of the combination, at least in this case. Vanilla in there too, though subtle. Not something I’m likely to seek out again, though I’d be curious to compare this to the regular version, which by accounts here appears to be extremely similar. Even if this one was 3 times the cost. All that said, I don’t really think this is a badly made beer...it’s just not my thing. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Taste is dominated by the oakiness, treacle and malt, alcohol is noted. Medium bodied,a bit harsh on the tongue. Average. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Bottle that Daniel brought back from Canada. Thanks. Pours out a dark brown color with a thick tan head on it. Smell is kind of bland, not really much going on there - some vanilla and oak notes, but not alot. The taste is similar to drinking a big glass of bourbon. From the smell I would have no idea that there would be such a bourbon flavor in this beer. Not really all that great, but pretty hard to come by. Thanks Daniel. jerc (3966), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Bottle from LCBO, Brown body with a small off white head that fades leaving decent amount of brewers lace on the glass. Woody oak dominates the aroma, and I am not appreciating this fact. Light caramel malt has a woody astringency to it, swee malt. More depth than I am describing but it is very difficult to get at the nuances beyond the in your face nature of the barrel. Might be decent not oak aged? Average palate. A decent beer likely ruined by the barrel in my opinion. blankboy (3263), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 19, 2007 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry -- my bottle. Pours a clear deep ruby with a large lasting off-white head. Aroma of oak and bourbon upfront followed by...malt I guess? Way too simple and one dimensional. Flavour: Whoa, this is an odd one! I didn’t know what to make of it at first but after a few sips it starts to settle down: it tastes pretty much just of sweet malt and bourbon -- pretty bland and dull. A little watery too. Average bodied at best. Very disappointing.
