An orange beer with a disappearing white. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of whiskey and wood. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of fruit and whiskey.

(Bottle 33 cl) Vintage 2006. Pours a clear, amber golden with an off-white head. Great aroma of oak. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel and distinct wooden, oaky accents. A light bitterness in the finish. Right up my alley. 151206

50 cL bottle, thanks to Jens for letting me have a taste of this! Pours clear and golden yellow with a slowly diminishing and white head. Mild aroma yet with a light hops and solid wooden note. Flavour is quite speciel with distinct notes from the barrels providing a distinct aftertaste that is immensely poweful and lasting, as one coined it: notes similar to those of fresh peeled shrimps shells. Interesting although not my kind of beer.

Clear golden-amber. Whiskeyish vanilla aroma. Low carbonation. Tons of sugar, again with light vanilla/whiskey notes. Kind of bland. Maybe some slight oxidation.

Bottle from Kensington Wine Market Beer, Calgary
Golden color, with a thin persistent layer. It has a light aroma of toffee and fudge, very nice. Quite mellow mouthfeel, lean malt flavor, with vanilla and cookies, sweetish; there is also a touch of citrus fruits, maybe even sour. The final is not strong, with this mix of vanilla and citrus fruits. Not bad, but definitively strange.

330ml bottle from Waitrose, 2006 limited edition version in a box. Deep chestnut with thin beige head. Some spicy smokey hop. Some sweet malt and also candy sugar. Bit of smoke. Candy sugarish in mouth. Then alright spicey hop on end. Even a bit of cinnamon. Not as woody as I remember the original version. Some smoke. Alright in mouth. Quite full, if it is boiled sweet. Fine and not as bad/good as I feared/hoped.

A Mes rate: bottle at Chris O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting.
Absolutely awful. Barrel aged diacetyl. Another stunner from Greene King.
