Amber, white head. Smoky, sweetish whisky aroma, oaky, woody. Whisky flavor, oaky, a bit sweetish. Quite strong whisky finish.

[Bottle] Amber colour, creamy head. Oaky vanilla aroma, with hints of red berries. Tad sourish. Fairly light bodied. Dry mouthfeel from tannins. Bit of vanilla, cognac, glue and apricot. Bit sourish here as well. Marked, lasting bitterness, yet bit papery. Good hop profile from flavour to after. Not very interesting beer this.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a large lasting foamy white head -- looks nice! Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, oak, light hops, vanilla and a touch of citrus -- I quite like it. Flavour of caramel, biscuit, oak, vanilla and light hops -- it’s nice that the oak is part of the flavour and doesn’t completely overwhelm it like some oak aged beers. Average bodied. This is quite good, and way better then last year’s edition, I’ll have to get more.

2006 bottle courtesy of Sammy. Dark bronze. Quickly thinning head. Big woody burgundy aroma. Woody flavour. Hard to find the hops. Sour finish. Bit of chocolate. Interesting change of pace but one bottle is enough before moving on.

Bottle, from Waitrose, Lincoln. Gold, thin but lasting white head and quite intrusive condition. Pleasant woody vanilla sweetness, some toffee and a faint citric twang in the nose, quite shortlived in the mouth with an initial caramel sweetness quickly evaporating leaving a brief sense of sourness that fades into a dry phenolic smokiness that lingers aimlessly

Bottled. Clear amber, low white foam. Stale and skunky hop aroma with noyes of coconut and oak. Grass, white rum, coconut and vanilla in flavour with a stale lifeless orangey bittrness. Metal, oak and rum in the metallic aftertaste.

330ml bottle brought back to Norway from Sainsburys, St Albans. Unusual beer in form and content. Blank bottle in brown packing. Pours a dense, frothy white head with nice "Kirchenfenster". Amber coloured body with great clarity. Zesty oak aroma mix with undertones of sweet chocolate. Flavour is dominated by woody oak and a discreet whisky-like texture. Dry fruits, spicy hops, malt and biscuit are also present in this complex brew. Both aroma and flavour have a light smoky or peaty character. Good mouthfeel, but not quite my kind an IPA, yet. Maybe next time... (03.11.2006).

Aroma of whiskey, malt smoke and wood, amber, pours a small white head. Flavour is a softly smoked malt, hints of single malt and treacle too, alcohol is evident, too much oak. Medium bodied, very rich texture, boozy, quite dry. It’s the most unusual IPA I’ve ever tried.
