Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Bottle. Clear golden colour like apple juice, small diminishing white head with fair lacing. Aroma of malt and citrus. Thin watery body, smooth. Good balanced flavor, medium sweet and very light bitter.

Copper, small thin white head. Fresh woody, oaky aroma. Little vanilla, toffee and mushrooms. Flavor is toffeeish, oaky, little alchol and vanilla ice cream. It doesn’t have enough body and character in itself to justify the barrel ageing, now it’s just thin and oaky.

Pours a highly filtered amber/golden with fluffy white head. Lacing is minimal. Nose- buttery, wood. Taste- sweet caramel malts, some vanilla oak notes. Body is medium thickness. Finish continues to be just as sweet as initial sip. No hops to speak of. too sweet.

Bottle. Pale brown body. Small non-lasting head. First of all: A nice malt whisky aroma. Also malty and sweet fruitiness. It seems that the aroma disappears after a while. Flavour is a heavy sweet fruitiness, combined with butter. The flavour is complex, it si different for each sip. A warming beer. Served two months after the expiration date. (At home, 12.06.08)

Clear copper in color with a huge two-inch head. Sweet sugary malt nose and flavor with hints of vanilla, oak and toffee. Light, crisp bittersweet finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Poured a Nice clear copper body with thin head. Aroma is strong alcohol, vanilla, wood. Flavor is wood, vanilla, oak and malt. This is one beer that needs to warm up to appreciate. I thought it made a fine cigar beer.

330 ml bottle. Copper color, off-white head. Surprising sweet aroma with plenty of oak. So far so good. However, the taste is cloyingly sweet, with plenty of caramel and some more oak. The taste was in fact so sweet that I was unable to finish my glass, which is rare indeed. Definitely not my kind of beer.

(clear bottle) gold with white head. Aroma is whisky and honey. Flavor is mostly whisky and some toffee. Not very balanced - all you taste is the barrels. A bit sour in the finish.
