Comes in an interesting bottle, pours a honey brown colour with a very small white head. Smells strongly of hops and malt.
Very strong taste, a hoppy bite with a nice toffee finish. Very good beer to relax with. azlondon (655), Fribourg, Switzerland Jun 26, 2008 Updated: Jun 27, 2008Appearance: Light brown, good amount of creamy head.

Info: 330ml bottle, 26/9-2005, 26/300 arth (2), , Connecticut, USA does not count Jun 25, 2008 A full bodied oak flavoured beer that defies classification. The head consists of big bubbles, with no crema to speak of. It’s clearly not an ordinary ale, despite the colour and name.
The initial aroma is of oak and honey. It finishes well with a slightly sweet aftertaste that reminds me of madeira, which isn’t surprising considering that it has been "aged" in whisky (or, rather unfortunately, whiskey) barrels, which in turn previously were used for plum products.
This beer is also excellent for cooking -- the flavour is strong enough to lend a good taste to any stew or sausages.
A perfect companion for strong tasting game or steak and kidney pies. It’s too good for guests.
Camrakipah (15), Birmingham, England Jun 25, 2008 Trois cent et trente milliletre bottle (just under 3/5th of a Pint) from Sainsburys. Excellent aroma - as a single malt whisky fan it promises the best of both worlds. The appearance is interesting, a bit like a dark lager. The flavour is very interesting with a positive malty and toffee flavour and definite high alcohol content taste. Various subtle flavours as it progresses on its way. Overall, I am very impressed. I get the impression that this resembles the ales brewed by the ’Maltster’ in Hardy’s "Far from the Madding Crowd". Highly recommended... enjoy. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2008 beautiful amber gold colored pour wonderfull notes of vanilla caramel oak and light fruits extremely smooth and creamy flavors followed by slight yeast
very good and easy to drink but a little pricey redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Vanilla aromas, spicy caramel notes, fruity yeasty aromas, definite english yeast aromas. Pours amber blonde with a thick white head that disipates quickly. Vanilla, very creamy flavors, oaky, with some fruity yeast notes, with caramel malts, with a hint of spicy hops. Very creamy though. jimhilt (1663), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Crystal clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty/vanilla nose. Flavor is sweet vanilla and oak. Pricey but worth trying at $4.49 for a 330ml bottle from Yankee Spirits South Attleboro, Ma. Theres (23), Tromsø, Norway Jun 12, 2008 Innis and Gunn? Almost an anagram for Guinness, very interesting. Golden, clear body. Frothy pale head. When poured, it is actually a smell whisky! After a couple of minutes, there is almost no aroma at all. Ohh, it is a very special taste, but I would like it a bit more citrus-fresh. I recognize the taste of hoho-bottles-of-rum! That might be the woody feeling. Quite ok when I get used to it. It says ’serve chilled’- I say 10C. (Tromsø, 120608)
