Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Light amber color, a tint of orange. Clear. Very nice, foamy, fine head. Very fragrant of malt, toffee, vanilla, a touch of hops, and oak. Very malty flavor, quite a bit sweet, lots of oak flavor, along with tons of toffee and some vanilla. Very smooth, a whiskey-like flavor and finish. Not a whole lot of hopping. Creamy, slightly lactic, a bit like an oaked chardonnay. A very interesting beer, and I do like it a lot, but it is a bit too lacking in balance for me. I could not drink a lot. It needs more hops, more bitter and sour to balance the richness.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown with a small off-white head. Aroma was oaky with caramel and had a hint of vanilla. Flavor was caramel, oak/wood and had some vanilla sweetness with a touch of bitterness.

Pours light a light amber with a large white head. It smells quite sour at first, almost skunky, but opens up to aromas of oak and vanilla after a good while. The palate is extradorinary, very creamy and rich. Tastes strongly of vanilla, with a subtle hint of oak and toffee.

Clear copper, no head. Its in a clear bottle - skunky? you bet. Some malty notes through the skunk. Flavor isn’t as bad, with some caramel and toffee and a little bit of oak, I guess.

Bottle: malty, loads of caramel, toffee, vanilla and oak, sweet, a bit too much but very enjoyable beer overall.

Bottle. Pours dark golden, nice creamy white head. Aroma is very odd. Raw mushrooms, butter, vanilla and caramel. Very earthy. Flavour is similar, but kind of meaty and awfully sweet. Body is medium, full and smooth carb. Might have been a bad bottle, judging by the other rates on here. Will rerate.

One of my all time favorite beers, sweet oaky aroma, no real head, sweet toffee flavor with an oak aftertaste with a hint of vanila.

Aroma and taste were both of sweet bread, but you could also definitely taste some woodyness from the aging. An expensive beer here in Toronto, but a good unique taste and its something interesting to try. Maybe even buy it again.
