Flavour was very sweet with a hint of warming alcohol in the finish. Not bad. MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia

Poured golden orange with a good sized, thick, frothy, white head which was fully lasting. A rich aroma with sweet buttery caramel malts, strong notes of creamy vanilla, oak, tangerines, English style marmalade and some light notes of banana cake. Flavor was a mild hop bitterness with smooth buttery caramel, vanilla oak, creamy toffee, a touch of butterscotch, mandarin, light notes of pears and a nutty/biscuity finish. Very well hidden alcohol. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry/creamy mouthfeel and a good lasting finish. Dorwart (1812), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Decent sized fluffy white head of fine bubbles. Nice continuous carbonation. Strong vanilla and oak aroma with a hint of bourbon. Also some sweet butterscotch. Color is a crystal clear brownish orange. Lively in the mouth with lots of sweet malts. Lots and Lots of butter. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of butter. But this sort of melds with the vanilla and bourbon nicely. Noticable alcohol presence and actually seems stonger than it actually is. Finishes smooth and creamy with a lingering vanilla taste. A decent brew. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Nice in that it is more subtle than most of the oak aged monsters I’ve had. Where those tend to leave a bitter hop/wood combo here we have a more mellow wood effect, not unlike what you’d expect from a smoother bourbon. Some candy sweetness. Overall I think it was just a tad thin and needed just a bit more oomph. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Clear bottle poored a copper fluid with clear body. The tast of vanilla with a hint of honey left me asking for some bitterness. The body was medium and finsih was smooth but sweet taste left me wanted something more acidic or bitter. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Bottle. Quite expensive at almost $4 for a single bottle at the local shop. The beer pours exactly how it looks in the "CLEAR" bottle. A well crafted ale in a clear bottle? Am I the only person that sees a problem with this picture? Let’s save clear bottles for crap like Corona. Anyway, warm amber in color, absolutely flat. No head or fizz. The one complaint I had about this beer is that the smokey oak and vanilla flavors overpower the malty richness as well as the hoppy bite that a good English ale should have. The aroma of the vanilla and oak is amazing being that I am also an avid whiskey fan, but the flavor in this beer was just too much. This beer definitely has a little too thin of a mouthfeel with no real body. The finish is a bit sweet, still very oaky, and a bit alcoholic. A beer worth trying for yourself, but definitely not my cup of tea. Theis (3651), Denmark
