""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

12oz. Bottle: Clear copper body w/ a minimal white head. Sweet malts & a light vanilla/strawberry-esque aroma. Roasted malt, slight caramel, smooth. A little bitter & a little something I can’t quite figure out...interesting.

Quite an intriguing beer. Take a nice scotch, mix in the right amount of beery flavour, and add fizz. Oaky, carmel brown sugar, amber malts; sweet on the tongue but with a pleasantly sour aftertaste. You’ve got to be in the mood, and drink it slowly.

Tasted at Internasjonalen 24. Nov -07. I could not detected any aroma other than the overwhelming caramel / butterscotch. Its quite possible that there some smell of wood there, but to much caramel to be sure. Had a much better flavor than I anticipated, with a great aftertaste. Sweet but with notes of wood.

Bottle (cell phone rating). Clear amber. Aroma is sweet and malty, with wood and caramel. Caramel, sweetness, a little wood and some brown sugar in flavour. Seems a little artificial.

Bottle. Pours a coppery golden color with a smallish white head. Aroma is on the sweet side, with some of the oak & whiskey. Flavor is also on the sweet side (honey?), again, with notes of the oak & whiskey, some maltiness, smoke, and maybe a little vanilla. nothing special, but not bad at all.

12 oz bottle-pours an off white head and copper color. Aroma is citrus-lime, which gives way to whisky, woody. Taste is whiskey/malt, woody, some vanilla. Smooth. Occasional. OK carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

Flavours start light and fruity, finishing woody, malty with a hint of scotch. The smaller than average bottle size hints that this is an ale to sit down and take your time with. Interesting and unique.

Brilliant reddish amber. Creamy white suds. In pre-ratebeer days I dismissed this as a cloyingly whiskeyish novelty, but now my palate has been broadened a bit I’m forced to admit....it’s still cloyingly whiskeyish. But I almost like it. Nose is whiskey-sodden oak as expected with vanilla, and some musty hops lurking in the background. Sweetly creamy vanilla-tinged malt and...yep, more whiskey and wood. Hardly a sniff of booze. One-dimensional and very sweet, but devilishly smooth. One is plenty, mind. Whiskey becoming more assertive as it warms. A scoop of vanilla ice cream. Not a bad beer, but a beer you’ve really got to be in the mood for.
