Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

12 oz bottle-pours an off white head and copper color. Aroma is citrus-lime, which gives way to whisky, woody. Taste is whiskey/malt, woody, some vanilla. Smooth. Occasional. OK carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing.

Flavours start light and fruity, finishing woody, malty with a hint of scotch. The smaller than average bottle size hints that this is an ale to sit down and take your time with. Interesting and unique.

Brilliant reddish amber. Creamy white suds. In pre-ratebeer days I dismissed this as a cloyingly whiskeyish novelty, but now my palate has been broadened a bit I’m forced to admit....it’s still cloyingly whiskeyish. But I almost like it. Nose is whiskey-sodden oak as expected with vanilla, and some musty hops lurking in the background. Sweetly creamy vanilla-tinged malt and...yep, more whiskey and wood. Hardly a sniff of booze. One-dimensional and very sweet, but devilishly smooth. One is plenty, mind. Whiskey becoming more assertive as it warms. A scoop of vanilla ice cream. Not a bad beer, but a beer you’ve really got to be in the mood for.

Pours a beautiful copper color with no real head to speak of. Aroma is oak and some smoke with nice hints of malt perhaps some honey and a bit of toffee. Really nice. Flavor is sweet and malty, with a tiny hint of hops and a nice helping of oak and smokiness. Carbonation is pretty low, but mouthfeel is still full and nice. Overall a pretty great beer.

Reddish-golden color with a small head. Aroma is sweet with honey and a hint of scotch. Flavor is a bit grainy with a hint of whiskey. Way too watery and dumbed down. Just needs some more oomph.

Bottle. Amber in colour, with a sweet caramel aroma. Cloying in the mouth and tasted of liquid butter. Not for me.

Fantastic aroma I couldn’t wait to try it. The flavor was reasonable but the heavy robustness came out and filled me up before the first bottle was consumed. And a bit expensive at 4.75 a bottle in stores. I will drink it again at a later time to perhaps re-rate. Perhaps before a nice meal to excite my palate.

Pale amber colour, sweet aroma with vanilla, caramel and wood. Tastes the same as it smells, overly tannic and astringent presumably from the oak. Not really my kind of beer, I don’t like the cloying sweetness and astringency.
